Thanks for the backup, I was getting ready to post the same thing.

Besides there are other winch companies out there that make great winches and their price tags are no where near as high as WARN. The name is what drives up their $$$. (This is my opinion, not intended to start a war).

superwinch, mile marker ... to name a few
same site has a mile marker 8000 for $422 shipped, superwinch 8000 for $659 shipped

or you can use the logic that jeremy, jd/scott, and myself have, in which, you can buy 2 or 3 of the smittybuilts at $285 for an 8000 for the price of one of those other brands ... meaning, even if it doesn't last as long, or isn't rebuildable, repairable, you probably still make out in the end over a 10 or 20 year period (as long as you don't mind it being "slow")

Zach (or anyone else interested) I live in Oakdale and could pick these up for you.  I have a utilitry trailer and could haul them to base or your place if you wanted.  This guy has been trying to off load these for a while (October atleast), so you may be able to low ball him and get them.  They have 3.73 gears, and he will only sell as a pair.

For probably $150 you could have a complete set that would be geared much better than you are now... And you could keep your others to build as you have the funds! And its only about a 3 hour job to swap them both! They will bolt right up!
