In over my head
« on: January 31, 2009, 11:39:12 PM »
I tried installing my 44 by myself today with disastrous results. The hi lift kicked out & dumped the rear twice. I hate to ask & I know tomorrow's the super bowl but if anybody can lend a hand for a little bit tomorrow it would be much appreciated. The main thing is getting it on jackstands & the old axle from underneath. everything's undone just the bolts in the shocks & lower arms holding the axle on. It's in a friend's driveway 3 doors down from Axle. I could pay a little to anybody that shows up.

Are those jackstands even tall enough to hold the frame of your Jeep up to get the axle out? I'm heading off to coach a basketball game tonight and I have church in the morning, but I'll have to see what kind of time I have tomorrow afternoon.

Do your self a favor and go buy some tall jack stands.  Mine are rated for 6 tons, but they are also tall.  You need to get them tall enought to support the frame with the axle at full droop.  I would lend you mine, but I still am not done my swap, and they are under my frame.  The good news is that the D35 only weights about 120 lbs or so.

I've had mine slip off teh jack before.  I was lucky enough to be able to put it in 4low and drag it up a set of car ramps and put the jack back under the pumpkin.

I will try and give you a hand today.  Sorry I couldn't help yesterday.  Glad you weren't hurt.  Good to see I'm not the only one who drops jeeps!
