I did the same thing to my XJ 2 years ago. I bedlined the entire interior and have been happy. It is a little louder, but not too bad. The only thing that is bad is that the floor gets really cold in the winter and when I took my drive back to Michigan over Christmas through the snowstorms my feet got really cold.

That's funny. When i pulled the carpet out there were two yellow stickers warning about carpet was installed for protective purposes from engine heat. i haven't noticed a difference though.

Just be careful where the transmission hump is under the gear shifter.  It can get pretty hot in the summer.  Not enough to burn you too bad, but enough to let you know not to put your leg there!

I had that problem with one of my xjs.  i ended up putting in carpet samples from a local flooring store on the way to paragon one summer.

I read some where that some where like Arizona or some place hot, that a Jeep caught on fire because the bed liner stuff caught on fire.  Kind of hard to believe, but Axle is right, they do get hot by the transmission hump.  If I remember right the carpet on the TJ's has some foil stuff near that area.  You can always install a heat shield on the underside in that area.

Yeah it did. there was some foil padding stuff on the underside of the carpet around the center, which is also where the two warning stickers are.
