'78 Jeep J10
« on: August 24, 2015, 03:19:57 PM »
This Wednesday I'm going to pick up a '78 J10 to use as a winter beater.  She needs some love but over the next month I plan on getting her daily driver capable.

yea, AMC 360 with allegedly 86k original miles.  Been sitting for about 7 years only driven couple times a year and is starting to rot away so I feel obligated to save her.  Most of the rust in on the bed so I figure worst case I'll do a wood flatbed.  Engine runs strong and because it's going to be a winter vehicle body rust doesn't bother me.

Where is it? Is that picture recent?

Stratford CT, pictures are recent but there is a lot of surface rust underneath due to it being parked on grass for the last 7 years.  Fenders are starting to bubble but the cab is is pretty good shape.  Debating buying a welder and trying my hand in some metal work.  Not looking for this thing to be perfect just needs to get me through my 15 mile round trip to work

nothing is ever easy.... there is no options to rent Uhaul trailers for the next week or 2... apparently the truck requires a 7k trailer and there are none available in the state of CT.  I have a buddy with a flatbed but the guy selling the jeep isn't around after this week so it sounds like i'll have to drive there buy it and come back for a 3rd time. Only other option is to try and fix the small leaks and the brake squealing noise and drive it home.

Call superior rental in Norwich, they rent a tilt trailer that Andrew and Matt rented to go to Mohawk with. Seemed like it was very inexpensive and should work good for that truck. I guess it just depends on what you are towing it with.

Glad it worked out, they have the tie downs also, and make sure you have the correct hitch mount, I believe its a pintle.

Well picked up the newest addition to the Jeep family, barely fit on the trailer! If I get a few things sorted out I'll take her to the next club meeting.

I'm thinking I need my carb rebuilt on the truck, anyone ever rebuild a carb that can help me out or know a place I could go to get it done?  Thanks
