Stonington, HELP,need an engine swap for 2002 Liberty
« on: August 17, 2015, 11:05:23 PM »
I received this message over the weekend, anyone interested it taking this on?
for the record I don't know this person, at least not good enough to remember who they are...

Hi Rock,
My sister lives in Stonington.  She has a 2002 Liberty.  She had a
tune up in Dec and we believe they didn't put oil in.  Needless to say, last
week she said her engine sounded really bad.  She was down 4 quarts.  She never
had a problem with low oil before this.  She is the only owner.  She really
doesn't have the money for a new car so my son suggested a new engine.  My son
is a Jeep geek but he lives in NJ, he suggested we try to find a Jeep club and
your club came up in my search.  Any advise would be
appreciated.
Thanks,
Cathy Freccia

From that email it appears they haven't met anybody in the club. Sounds like he went internet searching for a 4x4 club in the Stonington area. I really don't have the time, but might be able to help if somebody else wants to take it on. I would suggest they bring it somewhere to have the engine looked at. If she stopped driving it prior to overheating or locking up the engine may be ok. I'm not familiar with shops over in Stonington, but there are a few in Groton.

I have two friends who are Mopar techs who run a repair business off hours from their home garage.  There rate is about half of a dealer rate.  I can get you their number if she is interested in having them look at it.
