Yeah I actually didn't know about the ring gear issue. They are good axles and with some simple stuff the housings could handle the xjness above it but the shafts shouldn't be an issue and if they are chromolys never are a bad idea. But you still have the ring gear issue. I remember seeing a build ( I believe it was on cherokee forum) a guy used 8's under an xj not sure how it worked out but when he sold the xj of still had the Yota axles in it. Once again that's not behind a 5.3 or 6.0 though.
