35 Tires on a 4" lift...

is it possible to run 35" tires on a 4" lift?  I just got my tires and they were supposed to be 33" for a SkyJacker 4" lift and they shipped 35"s. What would I need to do in addition to the 4" lift to be able to run 35's?

Mine has 38's on 4" of lift 

35's will fit.  You just might need to add some bump stop.  What gears are you running these days?  The D35 might not like the 35's built or not so that is to be considered as well.

On a 4" lift TJ I'd just go 33's to be honest.  33's and a locker on a TJ will get you in more trouble off road then you probably wanna be in for a daily driver anyways.  Your MPG's will be better on 33's too.

3.73 R&P. I did talk to 4WD.com and they saw their mistake and have reimbursed me so that I paid the 33 price for the 35 and have agreed to give me a good discount on tube fenders should I decide I need them.  Both Rock and 4WD recommended Bump Stops and I may do that also.  I will be ready for Florida Vacation.

35s are easy to put on a TJ on 4" of lift. Do you have a BL at all? My old TJ had a 3.5" RE lift and 1.25BL and could have easily fit 35s and that was my plan once the 33s were worn out. Sounds like you got a great deal getting 35s for the price of 33s. The only downside will be the gearing with only having 3.73s. I can't remember what you've done to your D35. Is it beefed up to a Super 35 now? If not, you're going to be dancing a thin line on when it will break with 35s.

G2 Chromoly shafts and a Detroit auto locker. I had geared it towards 33"s but now I have to use what I have got. I don't want to have to go in and re-gear it again.

I have figured out that for another $400 I can pick up front and rear 4.56 R&P. I have no problem going into the rear differential but the front scares me. This would also tack on another day or so of labor in an already tight schedule. Looking at the tire to R&P ratio 3.73 is not going to be helpful on the trail. Can anyone ease my concerns by saying that it's not that big of a deal? (and mean it!) I also have the thought of the SYE floating in my head... When will the madness stop?

My TJ came stock with 3.73s and it did fine with the 33s on the road. I went to 4.56s on the 33s with the intention to go to 35s in the future and that was actually great gearing for offroad. Since you already have the 3.73 gears I would wait to see how it behaves with the 35s. On the road I would guess that it will be sluggish and offroad i think you're going to be riding the clutch a little, but it should be doable. If you are comfortable with the 3.73s on road it would probably be cheaper to put a 4:1 kit in the 231 for offroad purposes.

i ran 38's on 3.31 gears for a year and it did ok 35's on 3.73 you will just loose over drive on the highway
