the rebuilding of the tow pig

well i decided i needed a truck to tow my jeep so it needed to be a 3/4 ton or larger gas motor and have easy access to cheap parts so i went old school with a 1967 Chevy c20 it has a sbc 350 th400 bucket seats and a massive eaton ho52 rear end with 4.10 gears maybe 4.57's and dual exhaust now the fun begines

the issues
wiring is messed up all of it
the tail gate does not stay up
holes in the floor
windows don't go down
sunroof leaks
rear glass is broken the heater don't work (i can worry about that latter)

needs lots of tlc and the bug shield removed



the list of mods for right now

4 wheel disc brakes with hydroboost
a back window
power steering
and make the windows work and i want to get all this done by may 1

Easy access to cheap parts and a 67-72 Chevy do not go together.  These trucks are highly collectable and parts are not that cheap.  I have been looking at the C10's and someday I would like to own a shortbed version, but they are definatly not cheap.  The motor and tranny parts will be easy to get since the 350 is the most popular engine ever.

all i am looking for is a solid drive train and a relitive rust free body i 6 motors ant atleast 7 trannies that will bolt into this truck the only issue is the rear if i break it i am screwed a rebuild kit is $500 plus and stock brakes are $75 for pads alone but the hubs are very close to 14 bolt dimensions so when it needs rear pads i am doing a disc brake swap and the for the fronts i am putting 71 c20 spindles and hums for a disc brake swap on the front i will have this truck road worthy for less than $1500 so i will be able to walk away at any time and make money i have already had several offers to buy the truck so i my sell it when it is done next fall after i get the jeep on bigger meats

if i need a parts rig my neighbor has 3 67-72 trucks one is a c20 or c30  in his fence row cash money talks if i am really hurt up for parts i will buy one if needed and sell what i don't need and most likely make some cash on the part out

i just found complete color coded wireing diagrams i fits front and back of one sheet of paper i love old trucks

well i have all the wiring issues fix every thing works but the speedo and the cigarette lighter

so all i have to do is find a good drivers side window regulator and tag it and off to the races this thing pulls like no tomorrow

well now i am working on the nit picky crap and need more beer i want to kill the po of this truck well i should have took pics but i was to pissed to think about it the po tried to weld the water pump to the block because he broke a mounting bolt off in the block so spent the last 3 hours with a torch ans a grinder trying  to fix the bs

 i might have to pull the motor and stuff in a spare i got fml

i just put plate on the damn thing now i had to deal with this bsand  pull the damn thing back to the garage

Well i took the truck for the first major  drive and the only real problem is death woble at about 30 yeah awesome but if i fix the 1/2 turn of free play in the steering wheel, get an alignment, and some new tires  i will be good i think
