And the Penguin comes out of the garage...
« on: August 29, 2009, 07:06:45 PM »
So I have finished blacking all of the silver on the FJ with the exception of the Toyota and FJ Cruiser emblems, which will happen soon. What does everyone think??? Was it worth my raw fingers and hours in the devil humidity of MS??? I think so... I apologize for the quality of the photos, I just finished waxing it and everything is reflecting off of it right now...LOL Looks nice though!

Thats lookin good man.  Now you just need to get some baja lights on the roof rack and the front bumper. That'd be straight bitchin.  then maybe a lift and some 35's.

Are we ever going to see pics of her all dirty?  It does look great, though, Scott!  You have a great eye for detail.

I'm on my way out to CA as we speak and there is a great OHV park 2 hrs from the base and I intend on going there often! I'm half considering going down Miller Jeep Trail too...11 miles and it takes about 7 hrs to do. I've been UP it on a run with someone driving a bone stock TJ and they did pretty good considering the stret treads and no lift...And there is plenty of mud out there. I'll be sure to share the pics..  ;D

What did you use to paint the wheels man?

First i sanded them down just enough to remove the clearcoat finish and create a little rougher surface for the primer to adhere to. Then after two coats of primer, I hit them with 3-4 light coats of Rustoleum Satin Black. Then gave them plenty of time to dry...Pretty easy actually. I used 3 cans of primer and 4 cans of paint...

I like the wheels.  I have been looking for you but I never see that paint scheme anywhere.  It looks sharp even though it is just an FJ. ;D

I dunno Chuck I spent some time watching FJs do some of the trails we run on youtube. Not too shabby! Only problem is the IFS restricts articulation in the front, and it only comes locked in the rear. But yeah you would be surprised.
