you can never have too much music.  i don't think i've ever run an amp under 500w.

In my YJ I have a 1000W amp pushing 2 sealed 10", and a 4 channel 800W amp running 6x9's and the 4x6's in the dash and left the sound bar up to the 40W comming out of the head unit.  I can hear it loud and clear at 65 MPH with no doors or top.

that's the way to do it.  i think the loudest i ever went was in high school when more bass was the way to go.  i had 4 15's with a dedicated 1500 watt amp to each one, 2 800 watt amps to run the 4 6.5s in the front doors, a 1200 watt amp to the 8s in the back deck, and the highs run off the head unit with bass blockers inline.  had to run 00 gauge cable and 2 extra batteries.  had the alternator rebuilt to put out 240 amps to run the whole thing.  also had to run a power cap for each amp.  all of this fit nicely into the trunk of my 1987 ford taurus.  i loved it $500 car with $4k stereo.  i love where kids put they're priorities. lol
