axle id

what i was told was that this was that this axle was a dana 60rear out of a dodge w200 from the late 70's and i do not think that it is

and here is what i got on the ring gear are these numbers

4 20 79 dana d 32503a a3d20 46 13

i figured out the 4 20 79 was a date code
the 46 13 was ring and pinion count which means i have 3.53 gears

the wms to wms measurement is 65"

and the only casting numbers i can find are 88-19 on the pinion side of the axle and a c-30255 on the cover side

there is an 8 lug pattern and the drums are about 12" in diameter

the axle shafts are 1.25" in diameter

They are a lot more into hardcore fab then anyone that is part of JT4x4 that I know of.  You are looking at a TON of work.  I did the easy swap of the 8.8 and even with all the research and stuff, it still took a while.  Is the front axle drivers or passenger side drop?  I am guessing passenger side drop since you are going to a D300.

yes they would work great but i got to much free time at the hobby shop and these were free

well i got one brake drum off finaly umm yeah they are toast and the backing plate is rusted to hell looks like i can do this

should not be that hard as soon as i get more PB and a bigger hammer and find some good steel to start making componets and brakets

Thats a pretty good way to upgrade the brakes.  You definitly need to upgrade the master cyclinder/ proportioning valve and probabaly the booster.  I know there are some conversions using Ford Van parts, but I don't remeber the specifics.  If you search around on www.jeepforum.com I'm sure you could find it.

well i got the pasenger side apart (6 cans of PB and a 10# sledge and 3 hours later) got the parts orderd now the fun begins

i have a propane torch, a map gas/oxygen set up, and oxy/acetline.  which do you need??

all of them can you rebuild an axle ie replace pinion seals and ever other seal in an axle i have never done it i will bring beer(lots of beer)

replacing seals are easy.  you still have the axle out right?

yes axles are out and when i get the 44 cleaned up and ready i will swing by and bring lots of beer
