F@*%ing Body Lift
« on: April 21, 2009, 04:30:43 AM »
I attempted to instal mybody lift this afternoon and 10 of 11 bolts came loose, but the foward one on the passenger side just spins.  I decided to grind off the bolt head.  I was about half way through the bolt when the girnder kicked back and took a good size chunk out of my right thumb.  I managed to knick the bone and possibly damge the tendon, but x-rays are inconclusive.   I have 6 stiches and my thumb/ most of my right hand is in a split/cast thing.  The doc wasn't sure if she got all of the grinding stone out of my hand, so I may need surgery to get it all out.   :'(

I am seeing a ortho specialist on Thursday to check for tendon damage and to see if any more debris are still in there.  I have high hopes that it is ok, it doesn't hurt to bad today, just annoying having a splint of my hand.

which bolt was it?

Passenger side foward most bolt, near the firewall.  Out of all the bolts it is probably the easiest to fix.  It is the only bolt that has access to the top.  After I finish grinding off the bolt head I can use a scew driver and a hammer to pry the cover thing that captures the nut.  I'll just use a new nut on the body bolt and I should be good to go.

I was wearing a pair of Mechanix Gloves and all they did was make more debris inside the cut when the wheel cut right through it.  The back side of the gloves was mesh type material.
