New Offroad Park Opening in Michigan
« on: February 11, 2009, 09:20:31 PM »
I just saw this posted over on GLFWDA. There is a new offroad park opening about 2 hours from my house there.

is worth driving to your place, crashing there, wheeling a few days, then heading back?

I have no idea. I'm going to wait until they open and hear what people think about it. They will have information on GLFWDA, GL4x4 and Michigan Jeepers, which I am a member of all 3. There will be some good information soon, but my guess is that this place is going to be small compared to a place like Rausch Creek, Badlands, etc.  The good thing with a trip to Michigan is we could hit this new park, the Mounds offroad park and the Silver Lake Sand Dunes all in a 3 day weekend. There are lots of videos on Youtube of the Mounds and Silver Lake if you want to check them out.

Are the parks just for wheeling or can you camp there too?

I know Silver Lake and the Mounds offer camping, but I don't know about the new offroad park. Because of where it's located I know there are some campgrounds nearby, but they're just not associated with the new park.

Here's a vid from Silver Lake sand dunes in Michigan. It will be about a 2 hour drive from the new offroad park in Harrison. This is always a good time.

Here's a click of the Mounds Offroad park. This place is just a muddy mess.

the dunes looks awesome!  You can keep the mud!  I was laughing at the jeep and truck getting stuck on the small pile or rocks near the end!
