wheels and tires

I am looking for a set of either 32 or 33 inch BFG All Terrains. I have 275 on 16 inch rims and i am finding it hard to get 33s for 16 inch rims. If anyone has either a set of 15 inch rims or 32/33 inch tires they want to sell or get rid of please PM me. Thanks

There's a metric number to putting 33s on a 16 inch rim. I can't remember if it's 315/70/16 or 325/75/16. It's something like that and they are the equivalent of 33. I have several friends with TJs on 16 inch rims that run a tire something like that. I used to know where a tire size calculator was on the net to be able to look up the exact size.

i have found the metric size, however i am finding them to be more expensive even tho they are the same as a 33 for some reason. I would really like to put the Cherokee Freedom Graphite wheels on my ZJ but i think they were only made in 17s. I like in New London, are there any places that have te cheapest prices that anyone recommends?

You're right in that for some reason every inch of rim size increases the price of the tire. You'd think to put a 33" tire on a 16" wheel is less rubber rubber than putting a 33" tire on a 15" wheel.

yeah go figure. I still have alot that i want to do, tires are next tho. I have either 265 or 275. the only advantage i have is with 5.5 inches of lift i get alot of flex cause its takes that much more to put the tire in the wheel well.

I have 5.5 inches of lift and I'm running 35s w/ no rubbing. You could consider that too..

He has a ZJ.  You have a TJ.  Totally different style fender wells.  You have to lift a Cherokee really high to get 35's underneath.

Don't HAVE to go 8" to get 35's. You can get awqay with 6" and cutting the fenders. You can also save some cash by using TJ fender flares instead of getting other "cut out" flares from Bushwacker or Rusty's.

You just have to have good bumpstops, even with cutting the fenders with 8" of lift. I have 6.5" of lift on my XJ and my 33s are getting all scraped up from digging into the fenders because I don't have bumpstops at all. I'm going to cut the fenders for my 33s just so I don't have to use bumpstops and can use as much flex as I can out of it.

Price difference for rim sizes is most likely due to demand/volume.  Most people use 15" rim, so only a small amount of other sizes are manufactured, therefore price is higher.  Opposite of bulk buying.

I agree there's always a shortcut for everything. But if you've seen my rigs, that's not something I'm a fan of. I do it once and dont have to Jerry rig my truck to make it work.  Without having to chop up the body of my truck, it would take about 8" to fit those tires.

I don't know that thats a shortcut so much as a difent build style 8" of lift on anything seems like a good way to roll over to me, so I'd go for cutting away the body till the tire size I wanted fit then adding some tube to whats left
