You wanna know why I hate Skyjacker shocks?  I'll tell you why I hate Skyjacker shocks.  They are cheap crap!!!!  That's why.  Both the upper bushings on Gary's rear shocks simply disappeared.  They crapped out and fell out of the bar pin eliminators.  Unbelievable.  I've never seen anything like it.

Believe it.  They were in there when I put the bar pin eliminators together.  They were in there when I put the shocks on the jeep.  Keep in mind that the bar pin eliminators remove the metal bushing and only use the rubber one.

right, but they contain their own metal bushing, right?

I just can't see how this can possibly be true, unless there had been sitting out in the sun for months or something.

short of dry-rot, there is no way that brand new bushings would disintegrate tot he point of being completely gone from the vehicle, in what, 2, 3 weeks?

I don't mean to insult you, if you personally did all the work ... but I've got to believe that somebody "forgot"

unless there is some sort of serious severe design/build problem with the BPEs that are cutting the bushings...

I certainly wouldn't blame the skyjacker shocks on this one.

I mean, even if the bushings were horribly dry-rotter, that's a shortcoming of the bushings, not the shocks ...

and really, if they were THAT bad, that should have been obvious when you were installing the BPE

No insult taken.  I have a witness that saw me put these things together, and they weren't dry rotted or damaged.  I can't figure it out.  Somehow I have to get new bushings.

should be pretty easy, I'm sure they're a standard size, you can probably pick up some nice poly bushings even someplace like autozone

If it makes you feel any better, I put a brand new set of hydro 9000's on my YJ and then went wheeling... started to smell gas on the trail (was following a Carb'd Yota) decided to stop to relieve myself and found my drivers rear shock wrapped under the axle. On it's way down, it caught the rubber gas line going into the fuel filter. Talk about Crap!!! I called Skyjacker and gave them my part number and what I ordered as far as extended and compressed lengths... and they said sorry that was the wrong extend shock but they couldn't help me due to already having installed and destroyed that shock. That was my dealings with Skyjacker. That was probably the 5 or 6th time that I used them with no other problems, but probably won't use them again.

Wow, i've got an entire skyjacker kit on my taco (nitro shocks and leafes in the rear, coil-overs in the front).  Guess thats why they are the cheapest

Click on the one that says "Shock Bushing".  Hopefully you can get it to work, I can't.  I called their customer service and was greeted by an old squid.  He said that the latest poly bushings they got were mixed wrong and are falling apart rapidly.  He is sending me two extra sets to fix the shocks. 

If you have purchased Skyjacker shocks in recent months, I would contact them immediately and see if you are affected.

Skyjacker Bushing Update

Hydro & Nitro Shocks

If you purchased shocks from April 1st to May 31st you may have received bushings that have a softer durometer reading and have the possibility of premature failure in some applications. Please see picture below that shows the softer durometer bushing color. If you believe this affects you please contact Skyjacker Suspensions (318) 388-0816 for replacement bushings.

Sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused and rest assured this has been corrected.
