Diesel motor swap
« on: September 15, 2016, 04:24:35 PM »
Has anyone done a diesel motor swap? I'm looking for a new project, and I know a good local shop that can do all the wiring and tuning, but for their prices I'd like to do the actual motor and probably transmission swapping myself to save money. I'm not 100% sure what truck to do it on, but it will more than likely be a cummins motor. I need someone to help me put the motor in, and at least get it plumbed

You should look into the Square Body Chevy with Cummins swaps..... There are a bunch of write-ups online.
Tube chassis, 5.3LS, Ford Dana 60 Chevy 14 Bolt 5.13 gears. 203/205 doubler, Hydro steering, air shocks, 42 inch Iroks on 16.5 H1 double bead locks.

I'm considering an 86 Ford F-350 crewcab right now, I haven't found too many square body Chevys I liked

Haha. Also considering getting a humvee and doing a cummins swap but that not a task I can do on my own, but if I can at least get the cummins in and driving I can slowly make it super dope.  I think I can get the an old motor out and probably a new one in but as far as getting it to work idk
