« on: July 27, 2011, 09:27:12 AM »
i just bought 3 cj5's
pics

i think i got enough parts for one and i need a steering column to make 2

now the build plan
the best body
on the best frame that will be boxed
v8 (chevy ford dodge amc it don't matter what ever fits the cheapest)
4 speed (the one that is in the renegade that is currently behind a gm v6 it might be a t18)
dana 20  t-case twin sticked that is in the in the renegade
57" wms wms ford 9" i have lying in my garage
front axle low pinion d30 (w/ d44 outers so i can have high steer for now)
suspension will be soa on the best 4 leaves i got with ford shock towers frenched into the frame
and 33" tires (maybe 35's i am looking into 33x10.5's)

That looks like a lot of work Adam. As meticulous as you are I'm sure whatever comes out of these will be great. I just wish I had the time to do stuff like that.

for tires my cj7 is sitting on 33x12.5 stock. (not much room for flex but they're on there) im not sure how much smalller the cj5's are then the cj7's but im sure you could run 35's with the SOA. thats my plan atleast.
1982 CJ7-stock

Owning a CJ is for manly men, they allows you to do manly stuff like auto mechanics and welding and drinking beer. Manly men own CJs. Manly men do not drive hummers, they receive them.

Adam, I LOVE the new 2a.  Did those have front fenders or did they run open like that.  What engine did it come with.  Cant wait to see the build.

Check this build out.  It is a guy here in Connecticut I meet a while back.  I like his build a lot.

This is actually one of my favorite build threads I've seen on pirate.

This is actually one of my favorite build threads I've seen on pirate.

i know and i read that and it is sweet but i don't like how he did the doors

after i said i was buying the dj5 my brother said he wanted it so i was going to use the dj as a 2wd dd just replace the trans and adjust the carb and basic mantanace but he wants a wheeler and this is it i got all the parts so he is the basic build

engine 232 stock
trans tf999
tcase d300
front axle d30
rear axle d44
and some 33 bfg muds

and down the road it is getting an exo cage and inner cage i am going to keep the doors as stock as possible we want the full size slidding doors and ther will be an issue going around the rear tires and having them stick out of the body
