Lift Kit Installation
« on: June 01, 2010, 08:51:26 PM »
A lady that I work with just stopped by my desk and asked if I knew of any places around here that will install a lift kit into a Wrangler. Her husband has a 2005 TJ that he bought a lift kit for almost 2 years ago that is still sitting in boxes in the basement. He's decided that he doesn't have time to do it so they are looking to pay for somebody to install the lift for them. Is there anybody here that wants to make a little side money or does anybody know of a place that will install it? My classes finish up the 2nd week of July so I told her that we could probably do it as a club if he wanted to wait a little longer. What's 6 weeks when the kit has been sitting around for 2 years already. If there is somebody that is confident in their wrenching skills that has the time there is an opportunity.

That's a great idea, but...Where would we do it, who's tools, ect..

Roger, what kind of lift is it, body or suspenion?

I'm sure I could get rid of the wife and have the whole garage for a day!
Just not sure how many would come out to my place to help.

Jody thinks that it's a 4" suspension lift, but she wasn't really sure. I'll ask her about it tomorrow and get some more details. If we have more than 3-4 people we'll end up with some just sitting around so I don't think we'll have a problem getting enough people out to your place.

my garage; i've done a YJ lift kit here before.  Got the space and plenty of tools.  Extra jacks might be useful, though.

I brought 4 regular sized floor jacks and 2 really tall frame jacks back from Michigan with me this weekend. I can bring them anywhere we need them.

I talked to her the other day and told her $200 for us to install the lift. She said that would be great. She was going to bring in the directions so I could what kind of lift it is, but she forgot. I'll keep reminding her and we can set a date in July to get it done. Looks like we have plenty of garages to choose from.

She stopped by my desk on Thursday and it looks like this will be a TJ 4" lift kit installation from Superlift. She had two sets of directions and one set was specifically for the control arms so I'm pretty sure it will have new control arms to mount. We just have to set up a weekend to do it.

How do your schedules look for Saturday, July 31st? I'm out of town this coming weekend and then we have Mohawk the following so I'm thinking we could do this the 31st of July or the following Saturday. We've had several offers for garages so we just need one and a few people that are available.
