remember road warriors?
« on: January 19, 2009, 04:54:29 AM »
I took a drive to some "unimproved dirt roads" in east haddam today.

Stocker friendly but very nice in the snow.

IF anyone is up for some exploring during/after the next storm, let me know.
As far as legality is concerned, these roads show up on a map I have of southeastern CT but not on my GPS.

I went out yesterday also, on snow covered dirt roads in Lyme and Hadlyme, some of the roads I was the first one to leave tire tracks on.

I was out looking for a friends 68 acre property in Lyme that I just received permission to go wheel on....... I will go to the town hall on Tuesday and try to get a property map of his land. It is a little less than 20 miles from New London.

I would like two or three of you to come with me on Sunday to check out this property.
It will be a bit overgrown with an old road or two on it and like most of Connecticut it should have all the rocks and ledge that we could ask for. If this works out the club should be able to wheel here a few times a year.

I went to the town hall and have a property map.

From the main road the property looks great, with an easy access road leading in.

Looking at google maps it seems to have some old roads that cross the 67 acres.

Just old woods, steep hills and rocks. Anyone else want to explore a new place to wheel? Someone with a winch would be great.

Justin and Roger what would be a good time Sunday for you guys if you can make it.

Do you own the property yet or at least have permission?

i'm shipping her to Cali cause of my change of homeport.

From what I can tell, she's 84 inches tall. i think 83 is the cut off before you have to pay for a second truck. SOOO I"M TOO TALL FOR THE CAR CARRIER!!!  ;D ;D ;D

i figure my stock cherokee rims/tires should do the trick to make me small enough.

Will has permission from the property owner. He mentioned it when I was over at the yachte sales shop looking at that steel that a couple of the guys that own the boats out there have vacant property that they had bought several years ago as an investment.
