I just went over to NAXJA and tried looking around. I found several threads where people swapped in a 241 from a Rubicon with AX15 transmissions to XJs with AX15s, but I couldn't find anything about the automatic. It looks like it is a complete bolt in for manuals, but not too sure on putting one behind a AW4.

well the the np 231 is the exact same between automatics and manual so i would assume that it would swap right over.

So am i correct to believe that has the 4:1 low and a fixed output

As far as I can tell you are correct in that it has the 4:1 and a fixed output. I have added a link to a small write up on NAXJA. Everything appears to be bolt in except switching out yokes.

it is a direct bolt in unless clocking is differnt i spent some time on novak and that is what i concluded they both have a 6 bolt patern and a 23 spline input
