Yup, I got the dreaded yellow light this morning. I'm going to borrow an OBD II from one of the guys in my office, but I've never used one before.
-
plug it in, it will tell you your code, then go from there!
-
Where do you plug it in on a Jeep?
-
You should still have a diagnosic port under the driver side dash somewhere... ???
-
to the left of the steering colum, should be able to go online and type in the code, let me know if you need help
-
Thanks!
-
not a problem...
-
the one at advance tells you what the code is as well. I'll be glad to accompany you up there if you so decide. ;)
-
Advance and Auto Zone are not supposed to clear codes ( but I have heard that they do), they just read them. Some code readers only read the codes. I have one that will read the codes, tell you what the code means right on the screen, and erase codes. If you need me to bring it into work let me know.

P0442 and P0456. EVAP Emission Control System Leak (Small), and EVAP Emission Control System Leak (Very Small). My friend cleared it for me. It means I either didn't install my gas cap enough, or I have a small hole somewhere in my fuel delivery system. Whatever... :P
-
your gas cap can leak, as well. You will need all codes clear for your next emmisions check. might as well figure it out now. besides, when the light comes back in (it will unless you fix the prob), you won't know if another, more serious code comes in (there is only one CEL).
-
I got the same one earlier. I shut my gas cap tighter, and cleared it. It hasn't come back since. Usually it's just someone limp wristing the cap. Seeing as Justin got the code, that wouldnt really surprise me. ::)

It's back... :'(
-
your gas cap could be bad. some places will test it, or you can just get a new one.
-
I'll probably just take it to Midas and get them to do a diagnostic. If they can figure out what is causing those codes to pop, then I can probably fix it.
-
Did you possibly loosen your gas filler neck wheeling on Saturday? Bump your tank hard? You could be getting an air leak there. Also, maybe there is a vacuum leak under the hood somewhere?
-
mine was runnung the same code for months
after the dealer replaced the vaccume pump for the gas tank, and the code came back I replaced the gas cap gasket and it hasn't returned since
-
I don't know... It turned itself off at random and hasn't come back on yet.

i had that problem too. i reset the light with the reader at advance auto & haven't had it again
