Just trying to plan ahead a little. So hopefully I'll pick up my new axle this week and I am going to start prepping it for the tj brackets. All of the old mounts have to come off, so I am going to need some stuff to cut it off with. Probably going to use a cutting wheel (Reg ::) ), but if someone know's someone with a plasma cutter or something of that better cutting nature, would you mind trying to hook me up?

for a job like that, a cutting wheel and an angle grinder is going to be your best tool

of corse! 2 grinders, just need you to but a few wheels. 3.5 inch, arbor size doesn't matter.

i've got an 3" air cut off tool you can use

Thanks guys. Reg, I'll definitely buy the grinder wheels. Rocket, thanks for offering up your air cutter, but I don't have a compressor. I'm planning on doing this in my garage at home, for convenience. I'm sure if I asked Alex, he would probably let me keep the axle at the shop, but I'd rather have it at home so I can work on it easier.

sounds like fun. i want to get an angle grinder/cutter.

If anyone is interested, at home depot, they have a 2-pack of dewalt 4" grinders for $100. They normally run about $60 ea for the dewalt ones. if anyone is intersted in splitting buying the pack and spliting the contents/cost, let me know.

are they both 4" or a 4 and a 7. i need to get a 7" one
-
both 4", both are the same model

Well, I would go halfsies with you, but big yeller is starting to make more clunking noises again. It's the same symptoms as a month ago when I had to have the drive shaft rebuilt. If it's what I think it is, then I'm soooooo screwed. A new drive shaft is between $300-$500! I'm going to take it back to Karns when they open back up, and hopefully they can do something about it. The work I had done is still under warranty, so I've at least got that in my favor. I've got to figure out how to adjust those control arms properly. I think that might be affecting it, but I'm not sure.

Good luck w/ that man! I hope its either under warenty or just an adjustent issue
