Title: Exhaust
Post by: cj-nh on December 29, 2007, 03:32:29 PM
Any suggestions for a place to get exhaust tubing bent up around here?

From what I understand, midas does a good job, but I've never used them myself.

the exhaust job I just did on my jeep, I just bought prebent pieces from advance auto, and clamped them.  I plan to weld it once I buy a welder and learn to weld, but I haven't done that yet.

:)

I"ve been told that the muffler shop across from the main gate is good.  no personal experience w/ it. ???

Karn's on Crystal Lake rd (right across from the main gate to the base) does custom exhaust so he has the ability to bend pipe. Not sure he'll bend it without installing it though. Its easier to bend pipe all the way throughout when you can get sections in place. Just my .02 :)

I can vouch for Karns.  Jeff does good work and he backs it up 100%.  I've had stuff done there, and I like his shop.  Just talk with him on what you want, he will usually work with you on whatever you want to do.  And if he can't do it, he usually knows who can.  The only problem is, his work is so good that he is usually booked up at least a week or more on appointments.  860-445-6868.

I had him do the Jeep after Woody's fuc#ed it up... He's done some other stuff for me in the past. I have no problem with Jeff, but the price for an exhaust job is just a little pricey if you ask me. But he definitely does good work.

got to ge the right guy i guess...  if i had it back to do all over again, i'd save the money, buy my own welder, and do it myself.  one of the 200 dollar 110 welders at homedepot or lowes would do the trick, and then you have it for future use   ;D

If you need it just bent, woody's or carn's would work but don't let woody's weld it. I do a better job welding than woody's. But I can't touch the job that carns can do. I know nothing of midas other than it does depend on who you get.
