Just signed up, n00b member TommyD.   :)

I found JT through my wife, she works with Roger and introduced me close to a year ago when my daughter and I were down for lunch, annoying people she works with. I remember Roger had a bunch of broken 4X parts on his desk. He told me about a gathering of JT somewhere but I never made it.

Fast forward and I'm pissing and moaning about having a lift for my Rubi but no time to install it (I had just finished my 3 bay gay-raj, loli column free)with all else I have going on. She said she could talk to Roger and see if he knew somewhere that would do it for me. One thing lead to another and here I be.

I presently live in Salem with my wife and daughter, I've been a stay at home dad for about 2 1/2 years now. Lived my entire lift in CT....<sigh>

Got a 05 black Rubicon (now lifted and got a wench, used it already). Only have ever bought 2 vehicles brand new, the Rubi and a 79 CJ5. Also reliving my second childhood with a 96 Mitsubishi 3000GT (for sale), 99 HD RoadKing, 86 HD Softail (cam'd, pipes and carb, sets off car alarms in idle :P), 79 Truimph Bonnie (bike), various bicycles, skateboards and roll skates.

I met a bunch of you members at the Sept.(?) meeting and look forward to remembering your names and meeting the rest of the club.

Thanks for having me.

Hi my name is Andy, I was introduced to the club by my friend, Andy Doucette.  I'm from Ledyard, but currently live in Preston.  I went to the last trail ride with Douce at BTC and had a blast.  I drive a stock '06 TJ.  I am looking forward to building it up to eventually have a respectable offroad rig.

Hi JT4x4 members.

This is Bob,

Funny how I met your club. Was on my way to a Jeep Rally in Somers,CT on Oct 3rd to try & find info about clubs to join.  I've been wanting to find a group of people to ride with since getting my 2009 4 DR Rubicon.  Stopped at DD in Marlborough CT to get something to eat for the ride & when I pulled into the parking lot there was several jeeps all parked together. Went over to talk to them & that is where I met Will,Ed & Mell,Rock & a few other members (sorry I forgot your names). Turned out all of them belonged to an Off Road club & were heading up to the same Jeep Rally. They say the first impression of meeting some one is the most important & after meeting this group of pepole, following them up to the Jeep Rally & hanging out with them for the day I knew this was a great club to join. Since then I have gone on my first trail ride with Will,Rock,Rocket & 3 other members (again, sorry I forgot your names) on Oct 23 to the Gutter in MA. THAT WAS AWESOME!!! If all you members are as cool as the ones I have already met then this is the club I need to join. Hope to meet more of the members of this club at the next meeting (Nov 2nd) so hopefully you all can vote me in. Even though I've been off roading for many years, I have never belonged to a club before & am looking forward to this new experience.

Hey all.  New on here so figured I would introduce myself.

My name is Bill.  I found JT4x4 looking through listings on jeepforum.com.  I am originally from NE Ohio, but now reside in Groton, CT.

I have a 2004 Jeep TJ:
 4" Fabtech short arm lift
1" MML
1" Drop Xfer Case
1" BL
33x12.50.15 Dunlop Radial Mud Rovers
Dana 30 Front
Dana 44 Rear
4.0 with a Kenne Bell Twin Screw Supercharger
5 speed
Electric Lime Green and a black hard top

Future mods planned include Aussie lockers front and rear, rock sliders, oil pan skid, Differental Skids, better rear bumper, tube fenders, maybe a better gas tank skid, and eventually maybe a long arm upgrade.

Time will tell.  For now, I am happy with what I have and happy to have found a local club.

Till next time,

Bill

Hi Bill,
It's great to see you on the board. I moved here from Ann Arbor, MI so probably not too far from you in NE Ohio. You found a great group of off road enthusiasts. I look forward to meeting and wheelin with you.

I grew up about 30-40 minutes north of Youngstown, Ohio.  Not sure if you know where that is, but its close to the PA boarder.  Not too far from Ann Arbor when you consider where we are at though.

Hey Bill,
Welcome to our club forums, hope to see you and that supercharged Jeep on the trail soon.

The supercharger is fun.  Kenne Bell's dyno chart for a stock 4.0 engine shows 148 HP and 201 FT LBS to the rear wheels.  I have it running 5.5 LBS of boost with a water to air heat exchanger.  They show that to produce 214 HP and 307 FT LBS at the rear wheels.  Their dyno curve is very broad and flat with over 200 FT LBS from 1100 RPM on up.  Now, I have never had it on the dyno myself, so I am just going off their testing...

I am excited to get it out on some trails though to see what it will do.  I just need to install my CB (sitting in my garage) and I'll be ready to go.  Might modify the exhaust a little as well.  Right now it runs very close to the rear track bar and I am thinking it will hit with the suspension flexing.  I was thinking of cutting off the tail pipe and running a dump in front of the rear axle.  We'll see though as I want to avoid exhaust smells inside while driving.  Anyone else tried anything like this?  Maybe tonight or tomorrow and I will get that complete.

I did  a dump but I used a short pipe that i found at the parts store and I saved the tailpipe and put it on when I have to go to emission's.

Yes I do get some smells inside when I'm slowing down or stopped. but nothing that makes me feel loopy.

Also lookin forward to seeing that supercharger!

Hey Travis!

Yes, that was in fact me (Gary). I'm glad you made it to the forum. Sorry the introduction was so rushed. Traffic isn't usually my ideal meeting place. I'll be coming back out to the East Coast in May, so I hope that we will be able to go out on a run when I get there. If I remember correctly there's a run at the end of May. And if it's the one I'm thinking of, you most certainly need to work your schedule out to go.

As others have said, WELCOME TO THE FORUM! Hope to see you out there.

Evening gentlemen, and ladies if there are any.

Found the club by the sign up at autozone on rt 12 and asked around naxja about the club.  Coincidentally Nate and I are taking a class together, and he brought up his comanche project and the meet on Saturday, so I will be out there and definitely ready to see some of these rigs in person.

I am born and raised in NJ, joined the Navy at 18 fresh out of highschool and have been in since, about 2.5years now.  I drive a 2001 XJ on an RC 4.5 w/ 31" hercules right now, in process of getting new tires and maybe swapping the lift...along with a handful of other projects.  She will get alot more wrench time once I move off base and can use my VW as a DD and keep the XJ in the garage.

Hi Guys,

My name is Mark.  I heard about the club a year ago or so from Kevin, he and I were on the same boat.  I was in C-School with Rich too.  I am just now getting around to joining and looking forward to wheeling with you guys.  I live in Groton with my wife Amanda, three daughters, and two dogs (Jake and Jerry).  I was born and raised in Northeastern Ohio and joined the Navy when I was 21 and have been in for 9 years now.  I am looking forward to meeting everyone.

So... the rig...
1995 Red YJ, 4.0L, automatic, Old Man Emu 2.5" on BF Goodrich AT 31", JKS quick discos, no track bars, Banks Monster Exhaust, HI-Lift on the hood, and CB.  It has been a slow build and I am slowly but surely making it new one part at a time.  I do most of the work on my Heep in my garage, I am always down for wrenching, so if you ever need a hand let me know.

Yesterday my Jeep got hit by the landscapers in the parking lot on base, so it finally getting a new set of front fenders!  So, it will be in the shop for the next few days...

Needs... Front and rear tow points, armor, fire extinguisher, and much more I am sure I haven't thought of yet...

I used MSE flattie fenders, they are DIY and made from ABS and have already taken a beating but hold up great!

Footman has them in a 3.5" flare

But we should be talking about this in the wrencing section so as to not hijack the welcome thread!

My name is Robert.  Heard about the site through a purchase on CL.  I'm military and just got back up to CT after being gone in the Pacific for the last 5 years.

I've got a 2010 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited, 4" Rough Country X Series lift, JKS Quicker disconnects, JKS adjustable rear trac bar, Goodyear Wrangler MT/R 35"x12.50"x15" with 15"x8" Black Rock Vipers, 3rd row mod, stubby front bumper mod, fender chop mod, flush mount running lights on fenders, clutch bypass mod, Rugged Ridge grab handles on all four doors, Kicker/Alpine speakers, Rugged Ridge CB Antenna mount, Cobra 75 with 4' fire stik on 3" spring mount, mopar CAI and some more stuff.

I enjoy modifying, so I do everything myself, I have alot of parts to sale/barter with if anyone is interested.

This is my 8th jeep, and my 2nd JK Unlimited.  So I do love jeeps and know quite a bit about them, if anyone ever needs help.

Looking forward to some rides, so if anyone ever goes, hit me up, I'm usually free.

Hello everyone! I am new here. Looking to do more than have an online experiance here though.  I am looking for a new wheeling club to join so I can meet some cool people and do some good wheeling.  I am located in Durham CT, 34 years old, have a military background as well as many of you, and am no newbie to the off road scene.  I have been wheeling for 14 years, and  I like to wheel mostly trails and rock. I wheel a very capable fullsize 89' chevy K1500.  I always love to add some fullsize to a Jeep lineup. I built my rig from the ground up by myself.  It runs a 350 V8, lockers front and rear with one ton running gear, on its half ton frame. Its been converted from IFS to solid axle, and is allllllll go, very little show.  There is a ton of mods so there is no point in listing them here.

Anyway I would like to get out with you guys and see what you are all about.  Your site is very cool and looks like you guys like to wheel and know what the sport is all about. Hope you will have me along on some of your upcomming meetings/runs, whatever. Ive been doing some work on the rig over the winter but it will be back on the trail by early spring. :)

Welcom to the forum JohnC. Would love to see some pics of this Chevy. Sounds pretty sweet. I no there's too many mods to list but pics always do better than words. I used to own a 79 Chevy Step side on 36"s so even tho I own a jeep now does not mean I lost my love for the Bow Tie. Show me some pics!!

Welcome aboard John!

If you open a free Photobucket account you can upload your pic there and then tey give you the links and the ability to resize them so you will to be able to post them here.

I too like the BowTie, while I wheel a Jeep, I have a Tahoe for my daily driver!

Sweet Rig John! Ditching the IFS was a great improvement to that truck. Being the shortest full size chevy truck helps on the tight trails & by the looks of the pass side I can tell your not to worried about squeezing it through a few tight spots. Brings back good memories of my old 79 Chevy step side ;D.  Look forward to seeing this rig on the trails!!

LOL yeah that pass side has seen better days. I caved half the cab in from that rear corner actually but we got it pretty straight and didnt bother to iron out those wrinkles. And I stopped replacing glass a Loooong time ago lol.  So yeah you'll see some sheetmetal damage. I broke the truck every single time I wheeled with IFS. This thing is built like a tank now. soon to come are some new springs from Alcan. I am ordering them next week after I bring it to the scale monday to weigh out each corner of it. The RTI picture should be a lot different after I get them in. I originally built this truck for mud. It did great. Now I tend to do trails and rocks so some more flex is needed!

Also if anyone is interested is custom tubework such as the stuff seen in my above photos let me know. all the tubework and spare tire mount on this truck I bent cut and welded myself. I know there is a ton of aftermarket tube bumpers/doors etc available for the Jeeps but you never know when you need something a little different or custom to fit your application.  ;D

Hey guys its mike, man i cannot tell you guys how much fun tanner and i had out at the church. I have suddenly found myself in a purchasing frenzy. Im on the hunt for sliders and have purchased diff covers and guards. I have also realized that i need a rear locker and a winch/ front bumper combo. I am on the search as well for old school con ferr shackles. In the mean time a little wrench work was put in on sunday. I was able to lighten up my carb a little by down sizing the jets/ meterblock and added new bowls front and rear with float adjusts. And for those of you that dont understand why i did it (hope to not stall anymore at extreme angles).

Hi all, I'm Sue.  I'm friends with Bob (skibum here).  We grew up next door to each other and when I asked him recently if he was still wheelin after all these years he told me about the club.  I owned 2 TJ's and now I've got a 2012 JK.

Anyway, it was nice seeing those of you that were at the meeting earlier this week, I look forward to meeting the rest of you.

Not a great picture, but it's all I've got at the moment...

Joining this club was the smartest choice I made after buying my Jeep. Off Roading is much more fun(and safe)when your doing it with people who share the same passion for this sport as you do.  Welcome abord Sue.

Hi all! My name is Ryan and live in the Mystic area. I heard about JT4x4 through wranglerforum.com. I currently have a 2007 JKU that is mostly stock for the time being. I have a big wish list for it and a not so big budget haha. So its one thing at a time. The only mods are a K&N cool air intake, Banks exhaust and SuperChip programmer that came with it. I look forward to meeting people, having fun and making the JKU not so stock.

Greetings,

My name is Bill, just logged in as CTDisco.  I met one of the members (Chuck) while fueling up in North Stonington, which is where I live.  We began talking about our rigs and wheeling, and he told me about the club.  I have always enjoyed exploring the woods, and testing the capabilities of whatever vehicle I had.  In the past 4 years I have been building, wrenching, and wheeling my rig pretty consistently.

I have a 2004 Discovery 2 80K, CDL equipped, Superwinch, ARB Bumper, sliders, assorted recovery gear, OME NitroChargers with 2.5" suspension lift, FandR diff guards, Hella lights.  I retrofitted an older pair of 16" LR rims with 265 75 R16 Dick Cepeks.  I also tended to some of the flawed Rover characteristics with the engine--Oil pump, cooling system, etc. I enjoy doing my own maintenance and mods, although draw the line when it comes to internal engine stuff.

Look forward to meeting the members of the club, and some new challenges on the trail.

Thanks,
-Bill

Thanks for all the "welcome aboard" messages.  I tried posting a pic of my rig when I registered but it just came up as a little red X in a pic box.  I have a youtube page username "Sydestepper" I'll try posting a link here.  http://www.youtube.com/user/sydestepper?feature=results_main

There are some driving videos posted up there.   Would really like to correct the jpeg posting problem so I can have an avatar though.

Look forward to the next trail day.

Greetings, and thanks for letting me in. I'm new to the area--navy, moved here from Japan, where I drove a Suzuki Mode Cervo--fun to google, but about as tiny as you can get and still be street legal. I drive a 2000 TJ Sahara now. I'm here to learn as much as I can as I take this rig from stock to wherever the trail leads.

Hi all, my name is Steve. My three sons (Brayden 11,Logan 8 and Noah 5)and I are new yj owners. We have been looking for almost 6 months before we found a nice 95 yj in Rhode Island. We've been tinkering with it little by little. We are thrilled to be members of JT4x4, and are looking forward to using our jeep the way it was made. It is going to be a work in progress with our jeep. We have taken rides without the top and love it. We look forward to some trail rides and meeting good folks and share many good times. Thank you all and we will see you soon.

Thanks
Steve

Hi Folks,

Another potential new member here - found the club on the Nova site.  My rig is a 2003 Rubicon with a 4-in lift and 33-in tires that I bought last year, gave some much needed and way overdue TLC, and drove out to Moab this past summer.  First time out there with my own Jeep - my wife and I went twice before and rented a Jeep, but it's not the same.

I'm looking for a club to wheel with here in the northeast and look forward to meeting you guys and doing some wheeling together.

Bruce

Ive been watching the forums for a while, but i never posted here, so i might as well. Ive been trying to make it to something for over a year now, but between work and night classes at Three Rivers ive always got some kind of conflict. I found the forum by seeing nice jeeps with JT4x4 stickers on them, and googling it.

This is my 3rd Jeep, and by far my favorite. I've got a '04 black rubi with 2" spacers and 32" duratracs. Ive done a few things to it, but as long as its my daily driver i cant do the lift and tires it deserves. I need to get my wife involved so she'll understand why i want to spend so much money on my jeep. Before this i had an 07 JK that i didnt really care for (personal preference, no offense to the JK guys but i prefer TJ's and CJ's). My first was a '96 ZJ w/4.5RE lift and 33's that i wish i never would have sold.

Anyways, Im always looking for opportunities to go offroad when i actually have free time, and im looking forward to being part of the club.

Hello everyone, just joined the forum but been around a few times since August of last year. I am a Cadet at the Coast Guard Academy and will be graduating in May. My hope is to go to flight school down in Pensacola, FL and will find out in March. I have had nothing but positive interactions with the club and it's members and although I probably won't be here in CT for much longer, I wanted to try and become a member and stay in touch with the great people you guys have. I'll post up a thread in the rides section, but here is my 4runner. 1986 with SAS from an 83'. 4.88 gears with Aussie locker in the back and Spartan up front. Dual cases with 4.7 tcase with twin sticks and 2.28 crawlbox. 4" TG lift in front and 5" in rear (that has alot of sag) with Bilsteins all the way around. Lowrange dual case xmbr with poly mounts. A 1/2 cage added to the factory roll bar. 35" BFG KM2's. Custom front and rear bumpers. LCE throttle body and header to a magnaflow exhaust with a super ricer tip. Linex interior with masonite panels. Soft top. Bed-liner 'Fo' fender flares. Focal 6x9 speakers and Pioneer head unit. 4xInnovations tube doors (curtesy of Ed). Yakima roof racks.

I also have a 2002 Dodge Ram CTD with a few mods as a tow rig and an 18' trailer. I've grown up wheeling and both my dad and brother have 1st generation 4runners. My first car was an 85' 4Runner, and from then I've owned an 85' Toyota Pickup, 81' Toyota Pickup, 92' Toyota 4Runner, 95' Jeep Cherokee, 98' Jeep TJ, 86' Suzuki Samurai and now my 86' 4Runner.

Looking forward to meeting more people and wheeling in the months to come.

Yeah, mud can definitely be fun. Gotten most of that out of my system with prior vehicles, haha. Getting into the rocks and such now and it's great. Half the fun is wrenching and just spending time with good people, wheeling just adds to it all to make it even better!

Hey Yall, late as this may be found the forum and was recommended on dropping a line, by a guy I work with (Andrew), finally got around to doing it. I had my eye on a 4x4 but haven't had time for one let alone own one. Bought one about two years back, so far I have done more building to it then taking it through the trails. Lived in GA for long enough to know where to go and join in with friends down there, in their trucks, but moved to CT due to the Military. I made my way through the ranks and now I have my project, but no where to go "legally" and I'm not one to cause trouble. Some of you may have seen my Suburban, I know I have seen a few of yours with the JT 4x4 sticker on the windshield, I'm the guy with the 84 Chevy Suburban, Camo paint job on 38s, 4" Rough country suspension lift a lot of fender cutting there, custom front with 12000LB Winch and rear bumpers (rear is still in the making), swapped the th350 out for an sm465 still has the np208 prefer a 205 but its a daily driver so if i do change it out would have to be in a days time, axles are a let down GM10 bolts with 3.08 6 lug i have a set of 8 lugs..... 10bolt front 14bolt rear 4.10s so a better upgrade, ripped out all the interior for plans on a restoration down the road. Its a workin progress. Anyways was hoping to tag along on a run in the elusive ct trails, been itching to just to see where my building has worked or hasn't. Hope the pic comes up I'm horrible at computers.....

Hey guys!

I found this place through the NOVA website.  To start, my name is Geoff and I recently bought a project 4x4 S10 with my buddy Chris.  The only mods so far is a 3 inch body lift.  The bed as you can see from the pic is starting to rot out, so we took the bed off and are looking to replace it with either another bed or build a new one out of wood slats.  Truck was running great until the fuel line started leaking, which turned into replacing the entire gas tank which we're in the middle of doing.  Otherwise, not too bad for $375!

Because it's a pretty stock vehicle, we'd like to join you guys on trails rated 5 at most, or under, if that's coming up in the schedule.

We're both interested in becoming members!

Hope to see ya'll soon!

Hello my name Jimmie Padgett and my son is George Zingus (George N Jim). We were the people that had the broken trailing arm and blocked the trail. We found out about Jt4x4 from Brian Dickson a few weeks back and went to your meet up in Mabel. That's when we made the decision to join. We live in Quaker Hill CT and we own the green Land Rover Defender 90. Its an 8cyl 5 speed with lots of tools and upgrades. That is the vehicle that we will continue to use in the woods, but we also have a black Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins that we use to tow our Polaris RZR 800's and a Yamaha 350 quad to or into the woods. My son and I luv wheelin any chance we get and we are very happy to be a part in this club. The Rover is all fixed up with terra-ferma parts and we cant wait to go wheeling with you guys again and are looking forward to the Tuesday meeting.

Hey guys just signed up, looking for a good bunch of guys to go wheelin with.  My name is Hank my girlfriend and I are from Coventry, spent a few years in Maine during college where I got into wheelin.  I've got a 1994 Ford Explorer that I've had the transmission rebuilt with a uniden CB with a 3ft firestick, dynomax exhuast, optima yellow cap 6 pack battery, 2in skyjacker kit undercoated with wrangler duratracs 31x10.5R15s, putting warrior 153 shackles on the back soon so it's not a heavy duty off roader or as capable as a wrangler but it does me well as I'm also a volunteer fire fighter and it is also my response vehicle.  As for recovery I've got shackles on the front and a trailer ball on the back with a come along, hi lift jack and tow strap.  I work as a Utility Forester for the power company on the off road high tension lines so a majority of my job is wheelin and finding new access roads but unfortunately the work rig is a standard GMC Canyon which holds its own but could be better.  Anyways looking forward to meeting you guys and getting out to do some wheelin.

Hey my name is Rob Wollschlager, someone dropped a card on my driver's seat at ocean beach a few weeks back, having seen the name across the windshields jeeps everywhere in the area I figured I'd give it a whirl. I drive a 72 Series III Land Rover, with OME parabolic springs and shocks, BFG km2 33X10.5's, and a detroit locker in the rear. Custom fabrication work includes a 4 point roll cage in the back and heavy duty winch bumper up front for recovery purposes. Between my dad and I we have 3 rovers, but this is the one that sees the most action in the woods. Looking forward to some wheeling soon!

if diesel that would be my friend Aaron, he lives up in Norwich and commutes to New London everyday for work. There is another tan diesel rover in new london. These things have a cult like following, I've been keeping track of the rovers in this area for years and have a small club going. For example, Jim, I've wheeled with your truck before up in vermont with it's previous owner: (https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/6375_117797102293_3457748_n.jpg)  (https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/5820_125011841885_3429179_n.jpg)
it looked a bit different then, but i like what you've done with it!

when is the next trail ride? I head back to school (in nebraska) mid august, so hopefully I can meet up with you all before then!

Hey guys it's Mitch, I know a lot of you have met me but if not I'm Mitch Watson I currently have an f150 with an sas, locked, long armed and more, which at this point I'm actually trying to trade off or use as to start to a smaller bodied project but for the time being, I'll still wheel it.

Heres the f150. Sorry if the picture is a little big.

Hello to all. I go by Eddie and I found the forum by searching around and contacted Mr Rock for access. I moved to the Groton, CT area back in July and I am attending a 6 month school here. So I leave in December but hope that I can get out there with some of you and do some responsible off-roading here in CT. I did do some research and it appears that CT is pretty strict so very curious what people do around here.

I have been in the Navy for 19 years and moved here from NM. That is where I bought my 2012 JKUR and was able to do some off-roading out west before moving. He has a few upgrades and I will attempt to upload a photo, wish me luck.

My weekends are normally pretty open so let me know of any events or meet ups so I can get out and see the state. Look forward to meeting some of you and thanks.

Hi All,

My names Doug. I’ve lived in CT for about 20 years. I found the club from jeepforum.com, looking for some opportunities to do some wheeling and meet like-minded people.

I have a 98 TJ, which I’ve had for about 6 months now. It’s my first ”offroad” vehicle. It’s just a 4 banger with a semi-crappy lift 33’s and stock axles. I’m in the process of building a D44 and HP D30 to replace the D35 & D30. The D44 is done and I’ve got the HP35 torn down, parts on hand and just need to work myself up for tackling another R&P install. The D44 took me 2 weeks to get dialed in.

I’ve been into cars pretty much my whole life and mostly into muscle cars, but I‘m having a blast working on and wheeling in the jeep.

I’ve only ever gone on 2 serious trail runs, both this fall. One at OFR and the other at MaBell with the PatriotJeepers group out of Mass.

Had a real interesting experience at OFR when another Tj running 35’s on his locked D35 busted and axle shaft. We Macgyvered a frame around the busted wheel so he could drive out.

that's my intro, hope I didn't put anyone to sleep. :)

Hey guys...New member here! Can't wait go get out with u all on the trail. I have an 03 Rubicon that's mostly stock (for now). Looking to gain some knowledge here and hook up my jeep. I'm a stay at home dad who is dying to take my son out with me. He's still a little young but loves riding in the jeep. I was planning to go to the topless rally in mass but my u-joints r clackin'. Does anyone know how to replace them without the fancy joint press? I don't have too many tools and can't do it myself. I am a pretty handy guy but sometimes I get a little overwhelmed and it's too much for just one person with minimal knowledge. Also looking for a lift kit once I get my tax returns! Any suggestions?
Thanks guys!

Loves these pics...one is my son in his car seat in the back of the jeep! He loves it!

Hey guys,
I'm pretty clueless when it comes to taking stuff like that apart. Looked at u-tube but can't find a good video that shows how to change u-joints step by step. And I don't have many tools or workspace.  I'm afraid if I take it apart it won't go back together...I am physically capable just lacking in the knowledge department.
If someone wants to help me I would b glad to buy u a 6/or 12 pk of your choice.
I don't have a garage so at ur place or on the dirt will have to do!

Hey Jim,
I'm in over my head with house projects right now and haven't even had a chance to work on my Jeep in way too long, but there may be others here that could give you a hand. Have you come across Stu's page of Jeep repairs yet? Here is the link to ujoint replacement. I would suggest going to home on his page and bookmarking it. There are a lot of good write ups on his website.

Most recently I installed the Detours Tailbone rear tire carrier (which is an amazing system).  4.0 I6, sye and cv driveshaft, stock 29 spline 8 1/4 rear, d30 front, and a bunch of stickers haha.  Look forward to participating and meeting up! ::)

I was going to suggest a similar method, balljoint press is definitely the way to go.  I spend 150 bucks on a press at harbor freight the first time I did mine.  It worked but it's super excessive.

Hi everyone, another new guy here. My name is Chuck and I live in Quaker Hill with my wife Becky. We just picked up an 1987 Wrangler 4.2L auto in the spring. I had been hot and heavy in the hot rod scene for a few years starting with a 67 Galaxie fastback, traded on to a 50 Buick super with the original straight 8, and then traded that for a 41 Plymouth with a 307. My wife has been for years asking me for a jeep so I put the 41 up for sale in the front yard. Less than a week later I had that traded for our YJ that had what I thought was a lifter tap in the front of the motor. Oh well, that 4.2 blew so we picked up another in Providence dropped it in over a weekend and here we are, Just fitted with a weber, 31's on banjo wheels, and having a great time. Looking forward to meeting you all out on the trails soon! I see a lot of you guys cruising up Old Colchester Rd. and thought it looked like a great time.

Hey guys my names Josh and I'm a 25 year old engineer at electric boat.  I spent the past 3 years performing a frame off restoration on a CJ7, unfortunately with buying a house last year I just didn't have the time to work on the jeep so last week i sold my project and purchased a running/driving 1972 CJ5.  It has an AMC 304 with a T150 transmission. Has the original steel tub and is in great shape. Currently it has 31s but i will be upgrading that soon along with adding a lift.  I live in gales ferry and am about 2 miles from the subbase.  Looking forward to meeting up with you guys and hopefully do some wheeling soon.

Hey everyone. I'm Larry I'm 44 and from Waterford. I just joined. I'm pretty new to all this. I've never been 4 wheeling before and my rig probably isn't ready for it right now. I currently have a 1981 CJ7, 258, 4 speed (I think it's a Dana, but I'm not 100%). I just finished rewiring it. It needs some TLC right now. It needs some definite framework (any help with this would be greatly appreciated since I don't know how to weld). Also needs shocks and some other odds and ends.

Not really sure what else to say about me or the Jeep. But feel free to ask. And I'm looking forward to being part of the forum.

Thanks again.

Larry

Hi Larry,
Welcome to the board. For that year the transmission would either be a T4 or if you're lucky you've got a T176 followed by a D300 transfercase behind either one of those. I've owned 3 CJ7s through the years. I really like the simplicity of them. One of the best upgrades I did on mine was going from CJ to YJ springs. YJ springs are wider and flex better than CJ springs.

I look forward to meeting and wheeling with ya.

I'm looking forward to meeting up with all of you guys. Even more, I'm looking forward to getting some great advice. My ride needs a lot of work. But it's running and driving. Can I post tech questions here? Or would I be better off somewhere else? I just installed a painless 10110 wiring harness and it seems to work just fine. However, the temp and gas gauges don't work. I have a new sending unit in the tank and the gas gauge goes on and off. Do I need to replace both of them together?

This isn't really the area to post tech questions. You can post those in the wrenching area. We'll help wherever we can.

Hello Wheelers,

Found a club that took in people that had a great community but didn't restrict rigs, and I'm happy to be here.

I'm Sean, been working on my 03 Durango and off-roading for the past 7 months (as I said to Rock in my initial email: I questioned the Durango until I was pulling an XJ out of 4 feet of mud) Found some sneaky backroads and trails in the parks but always looking for legal land and people to head out with.
Currently I have a 3in T/S lift and 3in add a leaf so a 5in total suspension. Currently on 31 all terrains until I can do some fender trims and fit something better.
On board I have a Hi Lift and recovery kit, mechanics tool kit, and will be adding the fire extinguisher per club rules.

A little about me: I manage a food truck and work in a restaurant to pay the bills. My passion is audio engineering and have been working on my studio for 6 years.

Looking forward to meeting everyone, getting out on some new trails, and learning from the more experienced members.

Cheers,

Sean, Durango

Hello,
I'm Sean and live in Gales Ferry.  I have a '07 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel.  This is my first Jeep and my first 4x4.  I bought it as a tow rig and something to get through the snow since I knew I was moving North.  I bought a diesel because I didn't want something that sucked down fuel.  I'm loving the 19 MPG average and 25 MPG on the highway it gets!
Other than an engine tune and some other small engine mods, my Jeep is stock.  I've heard a lot of good things about how well the Quadra-Drive II handles off-road, even stock, so I'm curious to try it out!

Hey guys wanted to re-introduce myself.  My names Josh and I joined the forum awhile back but havent really been active.  I recently sold my '72 CJ5 which wasn't really going to work for offroading and purchased a '93 YJ, it is a straight 6, has 4" lift and 3" body lift(which is about to get reduced to 1") and has 33's.  I live in Gales Ferry and look forward to meeting up soon.

Yea my '72 had manual brakes/steering and it just wasn't going to be up for offroading, plus it is one of the few cj5's I've seen with zero rust/rot and couldn't bring myself to beat it up too much along with the fact it was really only a summer toy.  So I sold it and bought a YJ that I'll be able to drive year round.  The YJ needs a few things done to it but overall it is rust/rot free(came from florida a few years ago) need to replace one wheel cylinder and the rear driveshaft ujoints.  Once that's done I should be good to go.

New to the forum, From Salem.  I have a project that has gotten out of control.  What started as a half ton Solid axle swap for my Ranger, has morphed into a full on buggy build.  Swapped the 1/2 tons for D60/D70 combo, then bought a set of 47" LTBs, so the 1tons got swapped for a set of steering rockwells, then decided I wanted a 4 seater so the frame and cab got scrapped and a Bent Fabrications Evo4 chassis took its place.  Ill make a better build thread later to cover it better but this was a quick run down.  Im going to try and make a meeting in the near future,  Cant make tomorrows since I'm on 2nd shift.  In the mean time my fiance has a 2014 JKU, maybe I can convince her to let me borrow it till the buggy is done, haha.

nope all the other axles are gone, plus the front D60's I had were Dodge and Chevy pass drop axles.  Ranger was going to be LS powered so it was all setup for pass drop.  Im getting over my axle addiction, I think at one point I had 4 front kingpin D60's, two D70HD rears and a couple misc 1/2 ton stuff.  Now its just the Rockwells.

I was parked at Cartway and this minivan came up and said nice jeep. I replied thank you and he said that had a wrangler and was interested in joining this cool jeep club that he was a member. At first I was hesitate of the fact that he was in a minivan, but I checked out the site and thought wow!!! this is awesome and something I wanted to be a part of. Not only for me but for my son. I am retired Navy since Oct last year and now have the time to work on my jeep and and maybe do some trail riding. I am new to this so I feel like a virgin in a whore house right now. I have a 02 jeep wrangler 4.0l with a 2.5 lift. 33in tires. this is the starting point for now. Another reason for joining is the amount of knowledge you guess have and to have someone to bounce questions off of. I am married to my wife Melissa for 20 years and I have a 16 year old son. I am excited to get started and cant wait to meet everyone.

To the person who stopped thanks again. I am horrible with names but will remember a face.

MonkeyJeep!!

Hey all!  Found this club messing around on the Internet.  I have a daily driver 2012 jk with 3ish inches of lift and 35's.  Got a roof rack, bumpers and a winch.  Best mod is the palm tree proof roof rack (saved the top of the rig).  Worst mod was a paint job modification curtesy of the neighbors kids......it just doesn't match the other scratches and dents!

I met a few of you guys and girls already at the Gales Ferry wood splitting event last winter, last month's meeting, and Mohawk weekend a couple weeks ago (awesome!). I'm looking forward to meeting everyone else! Hopefully my K5 will be trail/road ready in the next month or so. It's an '80 Chevrolet K5 Blazer: 454, th400, dana 60 front (4:56s) 14 bolt FF rear (4:56s) with Dana 44 disc conversion, B52 spring swap in front (flex!), ORD shackle reverse in rear, 6 inch(ish) lift, 38.5 boggers, full cage, XJ Jeep steering shaft swap, 2wd crossover steering conversion, rock sliders, and a vintage Hickey fiberglass drop center hood (for trail visibility). Future upgrades: H1 beadlocks w/37s, 8274 Warn, trail/offroad bumpers, trail lights, on board air.

Good evening!

My name is Brent and i currently have a 99 XJ. Overview of mods include 8" IRO LA lift, OTK steering, 35x12.50 KM2s (in transit), aussie lockers front and rear (D30/8.25). I met several members over the last year and it is great to finally get around to meeting many people at the last meeting.

The Cherokee is out of commission awaiting chromolly axles up front (broke stock one over this past weekend). Hope to be up and running for the 27th. I am interested in a ride-a-long for the next event if anyone has room.

I am always looking to learn and have a very positive outlook on life in general.

Just signed up today!

I found you guys through a guy on nejeep when looking around to find someone to go with to take out my 2016 JKUS. I custom ordered her and had an AEV 2.5" lift, AEV Pintlers, 35" duratracks, and AEV spare tire carrier installed before taking her home. I picked it up 12/21/15 and live in Groton, CT.

I've been off road 3 times now, but I have the bug. I cant wait to meet you guys and see more of what my jeep can do! I can't make the meeting on Tuesday, but I am hoping there might be another get together this month.

I already installed a CB and want to get a winch. I am eyeballing the AEV front/rear bumpers, but am probably going to wait a little before getting it. I am also looking at the gobi rack so that i am able to carry my kayak during the summer months. I did get both the hard and soft tops, but i am going to switch them out in the spring and fall months.

I drive a 1994 Toyota Pickup, sas' d, ruf, and Chevy spring swap rear, with sliders and a few little odds and ends. I found the club via google, and I'm originally from El Paso Tx. Bit of a desert rat, truck somewhat reflects that. Been apart of a couple of off-road groups before,  but never a club. Should be interesting to get to know yall and hit some trails.

This is my first time posting here, I've heard about this group a few times over the past year or so but never took the time to look it up and see what it's about. I'm now very happy I joined and to have found a group in south eastern ct!

I drive a 1988 jeep Comanche that is soa swapped in the rear and on 8.5" rusty's springs and drop brackets in front. It has a factory d44 in back and just a d30 in front. There's nothing special for the axles yet. Hopefully going to lock and regear this year! It's sitting on 32's for now, I'm wanting to lower it this year also and run 35's for more of a low cog setup. I need to look at getting a cb for the trails and a few other items to be trail ready.

I look forward to meeting new people and helping people out whenever possible! Hopefully I can get out and go wheeling with the group soon. Been wanting to get out and have some fun, but I've been really busy with work lately and the lack of people to go wheeling with lol.

Hello all. Just joined, name is Trevor. I was referred to the group by Jesse. I am in the Navy and live in Groton. This summer I bought my first jeep, a 94 yj. 2.5L, 5 spd. I don't know a whole lot about jeeps or 4x4s in general, but am anxious to learn. I have been a part of some car clubs in the past and have loved the group feel. I am excited to meet some new people and get some wheeling under my belt.

Hey all. Dave Martel here. Longtime member of Jonfund. Been trails director for several terms, vice president, and clerk. Been very involved with that particular club and just looking to branch out and wheel with some new folks and at some new properties.

I have consistently a 2005 tj with a turbo charged and intercooled 4.0L on 35's LA F&R locked/locked. Its a built rig and its just like everyone elses... never complete and never 100% right! I have had 2 other XJ's one I built bought on 35's coiled and LA f&R got tired of it. Sold it. I have an interesting story with a 98 XJ I bought for 50$ and owned 2x. I put a long arm 6.5" lift on that wheeled it a couple of times and decided one rig is enough. So I sold it for the 3rd and last time. I miss the green turd sometimes...

I have a great wheeling dog named Monkey. Hes a trip.... an 18month old daugher Allysin and her mother Stephanie who is my trusted copilot of the 2 legged varity...

I love being outside... I know feel like im writing a personal ad so.... I also enjoy spotting as much as wheeling myself. Love the challenge of solving that puzzle...

Anyway... see you all on the trails!

Martel

Dave, there's a members side of the board you get access to when you join that has all the events listed.  Generally our club runs are the 3rd Sat of the month but this time of the year thing go a little differently with the holidays, toys for tots, weather & stuff etc.

Hi Andrew. I was one of them. Thanks again. Let me know if you need any parts for that beast of a truck. I was going to make a street rod out of my old 88 f150 but decided against it. Mostly just body and interior parts left.

Hi I'm pat, I'm new to the forum. I've been wheeling for a while now, not so much in recent years hoping this club will change that. Andrew told me about this group, I've got a 91 Cherokee that I've had since 2002. It's now on 1 ton axels, 43sx 3 link front, 4 link rear, hydro steer

Hi,
My name is Tom, I'm a new member from Shelton, CT.  I have a 96' Ranger 4.0 5spd with a leveling kit and 31s.  I recently bought an 03' Silverado as a tow rig so now my ranger is going to be my dedicated trail vehicle.  I have a winch, a Dana 44 straight axle and 37s waiting to be installed when I get the chance.  I enjoy fabrication, welding, machine work and wrenching among other hobbies.  I look forward to making new friends and getting out in the trails soon!

Hello everyone,
My name is Josh aka Ginger an I'm in Waterford.  I have known about JT4x4 being a local club for a long time. I think the first time I met some of the members was years ago at Ocean Beach car show.
I'm very active in a few NEA clubs and I'm treasurer of Rock Bottom 4x4. I dedinitley like that JT4x4 is a local club. It also seems like you guys wheel hard which is awesome.
I drive an 05 4runner "That Ginger bitch " set up for wheeling / expedition style rig locked , armored , 35s  it's pretty bad ass for a station wagon.
I also have an 85 CJ7 "half assed" that's all chopped up , locked on Scout 44s and 37s and pretty good at driving over stuff.
I look forward to meeting you all soon.
