There is a planned wheeling trip this weekend, not too far away, and much easier than OFR! It is a senic drive that will be a lot of fun, and just a tad challenging for bigger rigs. There is still room for a few more rigs, so PM me if you are interested! If you havn't done a probi run, this could qualify.
-
When are you guys going? I have a few plans for the weekend, but I may be able to go. How challenging are we talking? I'm still running the stock open Dana 35 with 3.73 and 35" BFG Muds. I would like to keep my axle in one piece until I do the 8.8 swap.

from what i hear, it should be fine. We don't give out trail names/locations on the "low" side to protect them.

HHMMM.... I'd say that XXXXX has a whole lot of fun... There is deep water to cross, there are a bunch of climbs that a slightly modded truck (like on 31s) can traverse and there are two ledges that (are mandatory) are pretty gnarly.. like trucks on 35s slip and slid around on and have a hard time getting up.
However, easily handled by a quick tug/winch.

I have more pix on the computer but haven't uploaded them to any sites yet. Showing the water, etc.
XXXXX is about 6-7 miles long. VERY scenic. It keeps your attention for pretty much the entire day.
Talk soon,

Sounds like fun. Ok, so I have a newbie question, if this is the "low" side, what is the high side? Email? I have a SIPR account, but I am sure it is not that classified.

high side is the members side of the forum, for full members

So as a guy who is trying to become a member, how do I get the info? ??? Can you atleast let me know what day and time you are all going to leave? I have duty Friday so I won't get relieved until 0830 on Saturday and Sunday I may or may not be helping a friend get his ride ready for the 97.7 car show at the Mall.
Thanks,
Kirk

Kirk,
That's generally how 90% of the clubs here in the Northeast do it. Probationary members are given the info via PM if they commit to going on a trail ride. It may seem snobby but it protects what little legal trails we have left from those that just want to go out and tear stuff up. Locals know where to go but for those that don't, joining a club is their best bet. Additionally, joining a club produces much more positive, organized, and responsible reputations for our sport.

I understand, and I don't blame you guys. I just didn't know how I would find out about the ride. Turns out the wife made plans for me already for the weekend. She has to work, so I get the kids. I'll keep an eye out for the next trail ride, so I can try and make another one.

I did forget to post that it will be saturday, but i did say to PM me for details.
-
Also, Wheeling is a family event. You could bring the kids if you wanted to. Everyone with kids has at some point.
-
I would love to bring my kids, but I ditched the backseat to my YJ a long time ago ( before any kids) and have built a trunk area where the back seat used to be. Mabey this winter I'll add a bucket seat to the back and make my trunk area half the size, but won't happen before Saturday, especially with duty tommorrow. How often do you guys go out on trail rides? Do you have some future dates already planned? I can work it out with the wife and work if I have a little advance notice. With the rain we are going to get I am sure it will be a great ride too!!
-
Kirk, PM Rocket or myself for info on the next trail ride. We try to do at least one official trail ride for members each month. However, once you become a full member, there are other options available.
-
I know Justin already knows this, but I'm in Michigan right now and won't be coming home until Sunday night so I'm out for this weekend. I'll catch the next run though.
-
Based on the weather (flash flood warnings) in conjucntion w/ a deep water crossing, and a lack of overall interest, i think this one is a bust. I'll post a final answer later today after talking to Gary.
-
yeah, im def. out for the weekend due to moving into housing! :)
-
Give a call if you need a hand.
-
The planned trail is a no-go for tomorrow. There may be a "pepsi run" in groton. stay tuned!
-
Justin got permission for the run. Him and I are go. Anyone want to tag along?
