Retarded boxer,1 year old. Loves to try to lick WD-40! No,the dog I'm keeping but I do have a set of chrome side rails/steps in pretty good condition. I took them off when I got lifted & just put on a set of Olympic rockers. So these are taking up valuable space. First come, first serve.
Oh yeah, I have a new noise now that I can't figure out. Sounds like a family of squirrels living behind my dash. Anybody ever have a problem like that? ???

I think squirrels do in fact get into the ducts of jeeps.
When I bought my TJ is had a fried heater fan speed resistor pack, when I went to replace that, which lives in the heater duct, I found that my entire heater duct was completely packed with hay and straw, and other materials that totally looked like a nest of some sort.
Is the noise only when you have the fan on? Does it change based on fan speed?
If not, then unfortunately, you're probably dealing with something transmission related, like a bad throwout bearing or pilot bearing.
I guess, all said, we're going to need more info about the noise, when/how it happens, etc.

I drove with my head out the window going slow & couldn't hear it,but inside with the radio off it sounds like,i don't know maybe a cross between a chipmunk & craeking spring or door or something. Can't exactly pin it down, sounds like behind the drivers console.

When does it do it? Accellerating from 0 to speed, cruising, stopping, idle, or the whole time the engine is running?
-
possible causes:
heater fan
speedo cable
if it is a craking sound it may be a short...

I've still got the rails. Not sure if they'll fit but anyone that wants them can still have them!
