so i fugured this should have been up for a while now. ;D
-
Princess (since I started that lol)
-
I am going to reserve judgement until the FJ's cherry is popped. Whatever name picked now is pre-popped LOL.
-
Sorry, but it'll always be Princess to me.
-
Sorry, but it'll always be Princess to me.
It might end up being the "Mudd Princess" though ;) ;D :-*
BTW - You guys are gonna make me have to force him to do a solid axle swap to go with 38" tires, lock it up, winch, the whole friggin 9 yards...and it'll probably put me in the poor house and we will have to sleep in the back of the FJ....but it will put you all to shame LMAO.
:P :-*
-
and it still won't flex, or get more "off road" than a tire or two on the sidewalk.
:o
-
The whole idea behind waiting to buy a few things for it before I wheel it is that I don't ever want it to look like Hot-Rods daily driver, with cargo straps and blocks, caulk, and duct tape holding shit together... ;D ;D ;D
-
???Interesting.....more people voted on this compared to the 8 people who voted on what type of graphic to use on a shirt...just thought I'd toss that out there...hell there's only 16 clowns in this circus....
Anyway, I've decided on the lift and tires I'm going to order provided income tax goes as planned....Then she won't be the little one on the block anymore... ;D
-
So where's the link to the lift and tires??? Let's see it! :o
-
x2 :o
and sliders??
-
The lift will be All Pro Off Road's 3.5" w/Walker Evans coilovers and matching rear shocks with the 2" coils. It also comes with new control arms. Here's the details: http://www.allprooffroad.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=131 (http://www.allprooffroad.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=131)
As far as tires go, I could go with a 35" but would have to limit my travel with extended bumpstops. It would have been really sweet looking but after much consideration (since it will be our DD), I'll be going with the Swamper Trxus, 33x12.50 on my factory wheels. Otherwise, I would need to order some cheesy looking steelies or have them made with custom backspacing at more than I want to pay.
In the end it will be just like this photo (as far as lift and tire size goes). I'll think about building my own bumpers later on...

Here's what 35's look like with the same lift. As you can see, the front is rubbing and he's not flexing it too much...

As far as the sliders go, I'm going to be building them myself too.
-
*falls into a dead faint and thinks there goes the Camaro*
;D
-
that stock camaro would probably have more flex.
:o
sorry, you know, this is probably getting out of hand... :'(

Yeah - only cause all of your ball busting is fucking up my finances LOL ;) :-* He's bound and determined now, which is probably what all of the mind fuck was about in the first place! ;D
-
Not from me, I just like busting people who pretend to wheel, but don't. :)
This is my complaint about the FJ, and even your TJ. No matter what you do to it, you're still going to have the fact that it's expensive, its your daily driver, and you're still paying for it weighing you down, and pulling you back on the trail.
For little more than what that lift kit costs, you could buy a trail ready yj or xj, or a toyota pickup, or an older fj as a project, and end up with something that you're not afraid to wheel the way it should be. That fact alone will make it WAY more capable on the trail than anything you can do to a rig that you're still going to be concerned about the paint job or weather or not it makes it home on its own power.
:)
There is no way I would dump that much money into modifications of a vehicle that was still under warranty or still financed.
-
Scott wheels. Just hasn't in his 5 month old FJ, since it wasn't "Set up" to wheel yet. He wheels the TJ all the time ;)
-

sweet. that will be fun to watch on the trail. It's just such a big change from the old FJ's.
-
hrm, I think that mighta came across the wrong way...
pardon me while I go get some tools to pry my foot out of my mouth.

*Just grins* I know what you meant....stop doing self surgery on your mouth, I have a feeling Angela likes it how it is :P
Honestly, I wish we could have straight project. Maybe one of these days. Until then, we'll wheel with what we can, and as we can. ;) Or not wheel, in my case when I know my limitations and hop out of the drivers seat to let Scott take over LOL!
-
there is something to be said for a rig like my rubi, about six months after I got it hooked a camper on the back drove 900 miles away wheeled all weekend then hooked the camper up and drove home, never a bit of sweat about weather she was going to make it.
now I'll admit that being unwilling to put it on its side slows me down a bit on the trail but knowing I can take off and wheel any weekend without dealing with what I broke last time first is a bonus too, and I know I'm never gonna sell the heep so I don't worry much about small dents and scratches.

Doball, I think we should go ahead and stop the voting, and go with PRINCESS! ;D I think the poll speaks for itself.
I kinda feel for Scott, though. I can totally understand not wanting to take out a brand new vehicle and trash it on the trail. Wait, I DID that when I bought my WJ! I took it mudding with some lifted wranglers on 35's, and she kept up the whole time! I was quite impressed with how well she did. Until I had to have the transmission rebuilt at around 5000 miles and $3500 later! Needless to say, the wife has made sure that it's trail rides since then have been VERY limited. So that's why I feel Scott's pain.
I'll be more than happy, though, to help him wrench her up from a Princess to a Queen! ;D
We can start a new poll, and instead of Princess and Pavement Ninja, it'll be Queen and Pavement Shoalin Master! ;D
-
The FJ is the only vehicle (car or truck), that we have owned in 8 yrs, that didn't have it's cherry popped within 24 hours ;D And we have owned 12 new vehicles between the 2 of us in that time.
Here's some history:
This is the ZR2 Blazer we had, I was 5 months preggo with Robyn when we bought it, and went the very next day to Paragon. We tore the window sticker off there. Literally. The dirt mound was on the base in Lakehurst. We were allowed to wheel there on lunch breaks.

This car was even offroad. Hungry Valley, CA. I needed to get somewhere, and the roads were out. Lovely firestorms we had there.
This Z71 went through Moab, no it wasn't Hell's Revenge, but it's tires left their marks on Moab. Trust me. I left a sweat stain on the seat back :P
(http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa35/JDNiezgoda/OurZ71002.jpg)
Took my Jeep to Red Rock Canyon 2 days after I got it. No lift, no rock rails, no tires....stock.
My motorcycle (ok so it didn't really go offroad but once, and that was because I skid on a dead animal carcass, and good thing I was used to riding dirt bikes, cause it saved my ass knowing how to control that LOL):

*Grins* Yeah, so the FJ might be Princess, but damned if she won't be one bad assed Princess when Scott puts some loving on her!! ;D :-* After all the trial and error...he knows how to work the still being paid for offroading angle LMAO!
-
where's the red chevy off road pic's?

I don't know ??? I couldn't find that or a few other trucks we have had. No proof, no post :P ;)
I used to take my Saturn into the Pine Barrens too...but I couldn't find that either lol!

;)
you gonna do it? if not, stop teasing!
-
no, i mean scott.

Ok, so after today I think it is fair to Scott that we come up with a new name for Princess. To say he "popped her wheelin' cherry" is a bit of an understatement. She handled the trails very well today, and even earned a few scrapes and scratches. So it would be more like "annihilated her wheelin' cherry" to be precise. The first thing that came to my mind was "Trail Ninja", but that is a close semblance to "Pavement Ninja", so I'm out of ideas for now. But for Scott's sake, please don't call her Princess. We need to officially retire that name and save it for another rig. ::)
Just my .02 ;D
-
Awww I kinda like Princess. I know he doesn't think it is a "bad assed" name, but hey, even if she does wheel like no tomorrow for being stock....it still fits. She's all pretty, and pinstriped and he buffs her very lovingly when the carwashes and the bushes aren't being nice to her.
*Grins* I am the Queen of the house, so don't call her that at least LMAO...
What's something kick assed and still includes "Princess"?? LOL..
I might need a couch tonight, keep your phones close. ;)
-
LMAO! How about "Trail Princess"? I have to admit, I do like plain old "Princess" myself. It does fit, because she is pretty! ;D
-
Princess is on the same level as Bambi (though Bambi-killer would be more appropriate) as far a manliness goes
-
You guys should think of those names more along the lines of "sleepers" in drag racing. Only they are "trail sleepers"! The name hides the beast within. ;)
Well.... I like it! ;D
-
I like bambi, too. kind of reminds me of "clubs" in guam! :o
-

I still like Bucksnort for yours Rocket....LOL
-
so did you ever make a selection?

I settled on "The Penguin".
