don't judge cog off those pics my front springs are bent adding about 3" to 4" of height but yes i am to tall as soon a my bumper gets off the cnc plasma cutter i will do a shackle reversal and drop the front the length of the shackle about 5" cause my new front mount is now where the top shackle bolt is and my plan on the shaclke end is to make it the same height as the current fixed end and mount the other end of the shackle in the frame, or on top of the frame, or use sliders

well i had more problems
my rear wheel cylinders was both leaking and my break master died so i upgraded to rear disc and a corvette master and an adjustable proportioning valve
then my hood and grill fell off and my fenders got cut to hell by some drunk with a plazma cutter

sorry for the crappy pics my new refurb phone takes shitty pics

Tube fenders?! Nice
-
Yes they are being a pita or maybe i am being to anal about the body lines and getting them to line up i woder what the tolerances for a factory cj7 hood cause mine is off about 3/16" from side to side and i can't make the lines look good enough i think i will pull the lip straight and move it up a bit
-
It all depends on how much time you have to make all the body lines perfect. Your building a Jeep. Not a BMW so a 3/16in gap might accure after bashing it through the rocks but then again that gap you started off with could get better after a good trail ride. LOL. Your building a Rock crawler, not a Mall Crawler so Remember that a true off road rig is judged by the scrapes , scratches & dents. Not the perfect body lines. A fresh coat of mud should hide any inperfections. I no you want it to look perfect & if a 3/16in gap is noticed then tell that person that if I drive up onto the hood of your car then the gap will be perfect. LOL

Thumbs Up!!
My hood has been off by about 3 to 5/16 since the tube fenders went on. But i promise that they hold up and the gap was the least of my worries at that point..

when i look at it is noticeable so i changed it i was able to adjust the gap by reaching the hood so i was able to split the difference to were you really have to look to notice the difference
i do this beacuse when i do some thing i do it right yes it is a beater but i put it togetther right and did not cut any corners

Dont get me wrong... I agree 100% in doing a quality job the first time and pride in ones workmanship. It's just that sometimes it doesnt always work out and it's not always worth beating yourself up over it. When we cut the original fenders out, the grille shifted to the driver side. That's where my gap came from. Despite all the effort that went in to trying to fix it, (and even after a professional body shop had it after my accident), it is still off a little.. All I was saying was that sometimes, there's only so much you can do..
Either way, they look nice and I cant wait to see them in person!

well i got one fender done lol and the second is coming right along here are some pics
(http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu131/gearhead1985/fenderprimer.jpg)
in primer
painted
(http://i641.photobucket.com/albums/uu131/gearhead1985/fendertop.jpg)
i know the angle sucks but that is the angle i painted them at so i could reach the whole fender and have the least amount of over spray settle on the (i figured this out when putting the primmer on ) now i need to buff them and go and the bottom will be painted black along with the bottom 6" of the fender
also i was surfing the interweb looking for scallop designs for my uncles hot rod and found these and i am debaiting on putting somthing like these on the hood

Thoes are some sweet tube fenders & nice paint work. I can see your very meticulous about your work & theres nothing wrong with that. I too take great pride in all my work synce I am repairing cars every day. Hope you did not take it the wrong way about putting your focus on other thing besides bode lines. Thers nothing wrong with going the extra mile on your own Rig. Again great job & keep the pics comming on your progress. Hope to meet you on the trails or at a club meeting soon.
