Ok roger i was thinkin about how to fix ur tire carrier/ bumper. So the problem is the mounts kinda suck the bumper should have mounted to the frame to be strong, so what i was thinking we could do was find an old wrangler hitch and then do a little fabrication to weld the bumper to the hitch then it should be plenty strong let me know what you think.

Can we do that without losing clearance back there though? That is the question. One of the reasons I bought this bumper was because the receiver was integrated into the bumper, which gave me a better departure angle. I want to modify the bumper some in that the bumper has mounts for a hi-lift straight up and down and the hi-lift base ends up being a dragging point so I'll never use it. I want to cut those bolts off and then I want to pull the tire almost 5" closer to the swing-out so that it uses the swingout as back stops verses just hanging out there way too far off the back end. Could even put it back in at an angle. That would center the weight much better than it currently sits.

Yea we can make it up to work however u want i just think using a used hitch would work great for the mount to the frame portion then cut off the actual hitch assembly and weld it all up to the current bumper. First thing would be to take a look at a hitch to see how u could attach the bumper to that, i wouldnt think it would be to tough.

I see what you are saying. I'll have to look at how those hitches attach to the frame on a TJ.
