Title: On the road to coming back
Post by: CaptORM on September 24, 2009, 12:57:05 PM
So after learning a valuable lesson about the great state of CT and there tax laws....my wife owed vehicle taxes and therefor so did I....I have cleared the tax office after saving up for a few months.

Now time to re-register the jeep. Of course that comes after emissions.  Have not driven it in about 4 months.

I  need to defeat this spell of flat tires since Ive had 4 in the last four months. Mostly dry rotting valve stems.  I have two flats right now and the jeep looks like a stocker sitting in the driveway until you see the flats.

Then I can work on getting my front end fixed and turn my jeep from 2-wheel drive back into 4-wheel drive again.  All just in time for the great snow wheeling.  Cant wait.

So with all that being said I am looking forward to getting back into things and wheeling again.  See ya soon.

Rich, if you need a hand with anything, let me know. I am on a month of convalescant leave. I have a bit of a bum knee, but I am not useless.

I am not sure what gear ratio you have in your D30, but Nate (Flex) is upgrading his 2000XJ and might have a D30 with 3:55 gears up for sale when he is done.  If not the wrecking yards are full of Jeeps from the Cash for CLunkers thing, but they will need to be crushed soon.

As soon as I can beat the flat tire demon in my jeep I will be doing ok.  After "fixing" all the flat tires I now have two more flats.  Time to get new tires maybe...

Nate, does your XJ have a high pinion or low pinion D30? I'm thinking that Jeep switched the XJs to low pinion in 2000, but I can't remember. I'm thinking about picking up a high pinion D30 to regear to put in my TJ for when I have the rear axle regeared rather than regearing the low pinion axle.
