So after much soul (craigslist) searching, I found a great 96 gmc jimmy for $500. The truck was in torrington and i had to get it back to plainville. I couldn't borrow a dealer plate because my old boss was out of town, and his was lent out. I thought it may be a good idea to throw on the plates from my geo and drive it back. Boy was I wrong. got pulled over on the highway from all things a random plate check, and now my new truck sits in impound and I get to go to court. Sure 5 years ago when i drove nothing but unregistered vehicles, i never got caught, now that i'm actually bringing it home, i get pulled over. Got miss-use of plates, unregistered vehicle, and no insurance. cop told me to register it and go to court and they should throw it out. we'll see. so now a $500 truck turns into a $800 truck. friggin tow home would have been cheaper. i'll let ya'all know how it goes, and when i pick it up i'll post up pics.

In Michigan when I bought used vehicles I just drove them home with no plates at all. I got stopped one time, but I showed the officer the Title change with the date of sale as well as the bill-of-sale with the date and they let me go. They give you 24 hours to get a vehicle home after purchase. If they catch you the 2nd day it's a different story, but they know you have to buy the vehicle before you can get it titled and registered. I bet you would have been better off just having the paperwork with you and no plate on the Jimmy.

not trying to rub it in, but you WOULD have been better off w/ no plate. Thats just unregistered, misuse can be a felony!! @ the least, it's an automatic court date. Good luck, having the plates/etc with you in ct will help a lot, as will an explanation if you get a chance

atleast u weren't drunk.
