Title: the 11th
Post by: Tsunami on July 05, 2009, 03:53:53 AM
so, not to be a buzzkill to paul, but i havent been to the fireworks on the river in new london / groton in a very long time, so, if there are alot of our crew going to the fireworks, we should all meet up early and tailgate... if there is only a few, i will most likely be going to paul's picnic (at least to help with the babysitting of RJ)...

let me know!

I don't know exactly what my plans are next weekend yet. I've registered on another forum to get hold of the guy for our run next weekend, but I'm thinking that I'm going out to Paul's place and then coming back for fireworks.

yeah except one thing... i just realized that i forgot to remember one little thing......
MY MOTHER-IN-LAW IS COMING
so for me it is going to be, trail, skip the picnic, have a picnic of my own, then take my mother-in-law and sister-in-law to the fireworks while my wife is at work...  BTW, my wife is from BRAZIL, her mom doesnt speak any english  and her sister speaks very little, but they dont have a fireworks show like this down there... so i think it will be very kool for them.

i am going to be on groton side down at EB in my TJ, i will be checking on here all week to maybe make plans with a few of you guys to roll down there together

The barge is on the Thames river between the Coast Guard station and the piers at EB.

It would be really cool if there was a place for us to meet and tailgate, but it would probably be almost impossible considering how much traffic and pedestrians are going to be all over. I'm hoping to be able to do a cruise from Paul's back to Groton with a few others. Then maybe we can all at least park close. Really hoping to get out on the trails this month. Lets keep our fingers crossed for Saturday.

One year I parked at the Skating Rink on the Groton side and walked to monument park.  Great view of the fireworks, and when they were done I walked back to the skating rink and with in 15 min I was on 95S headed home.

Back when I was at NSSC I knew the CO of the USCG station and I was able to take a boat down to the USCG station, right where the fire works are and saw them up close.  You could feel every explosion in your chest.  When they were done we jumped back on the boat and it dropped us off at the USCG Academy.  I wish I still had those contacts. :'(

more like training for how to install lug nuts.  ;D The other rear wheel was missing 2 lug nuts and the other 3 were loose.  I easily got a 1/4 turn out of all the front lugs too.  If they were torgued to spec (100 ft/lbs for all Jeeps) then I'm not sure how they could have come loose.
