well  i am getting a used 4.0 HO out of a 92 Xj i due believe it is time for a budget stroker from what i found this will be the easy cheapest build

4.5L "Poor man's" simple stroker

Jeep 4.2L 3.895" stroke crank
Jeep 4.2L 5.875" rods
Sealed Power 677CP standard bore pistons
9.2:1 CR
Stock 4.0 camshaft
Ported HO 1.91"/1.50" cylinder head
Mopar/Victor 0.043" head gasket
0.088" quench height
Ford 24lb/hr injectors with stock 39psi FPR for '87-'95 engines, stock injectors with stock 49psi FPR for '96 and later engines
246hp @ 4900rpm, 300lbft @ 3000rpm

those numbers are what i got from other peoples builds from jeepstrokers.com
but i think i will add a home brew PP and possibly a new cam
my D35 has no chance in surviving this motor  :o

That looks good!  You're definitely right about the D35.  Try a Ford 8.8 out of a 98 or newer Explorer.  Pretty cheap, easy swap.  Very strong.

Also look into a 99+ intake manifold.  It is twice the size and gives 18-20 RWHP and 15+ FTLB of torque.  You would also need the power steering pump and bracket since they both bolt to the manifold.  Bored out Throttle body, Chip and a decent exhaust you'll be pushing the 300 HP envelope. 

The D35 will snap like a twig.  If you are planning to re-gear, I have an 8.8 from an exploder, it's complete and I only want $180.  I have had about a dozen people interested, but no $$ yet.

Full width axles?  I've seen a few of these set up with full width axles and they are pretty sweet looking, and very stout.

Full width axles?  I've seen a few of these set up with full width axles and they are pretty sweet looking, and very stout.

yes out of a 3/4 ton dodge it will be bada$$

EWE.  heavy and low hung pigs.  i'd recommend 44's

Sounds like a trialered rig.  Full width axles will make it a trailer rig, so 44's would make it easier to get it on and off the trailer without ramps.

meant dana 44, but i guess 44" tires would be alright also.
