Title: parts on order any help?
Post by: TJ777 on March 26, 2009, 06:32:44 PM
Well I decided to not get the RE long arm I ordered the rough country 6" X-Series and it should be here next week. I am also ordering the tire rims, armor and everything else today as well. If anyone is willing to help it would be much appreciated since I have never installed a lift the reviews say it is pretty easy but a second pair of eyes/hands never hurt. Im probably gonna install it at the hobby shop on base since all my tools are back in AZ still.

Make sure you start hitting all the parts you are going to remove with PB Blaster. Because there is alot of potetial rust under that old jeep

Sounds exactly like the very first bill we paid when we did JD's Jeep in 2003. The lift, tires, wheels, SYE, CV driveshaft, ARB locker and compressor, all installed for $3200.

originally i thought it was 7-0 days so i sent the company a WTF message, and come to find out, it was 4-5 week turn around.  He doesnt make them until you order him. plus he's working solo. Nates4x4.com.  Pretty good lookin stuff, and no bad reviews. Just takes a while to get there.

my bumper took like 2 months (front one), and the guy would never answer the phone, return calls/emails.  and to boot, I find out after a year that he skimped on the power coat prep, is flakeing off after only one year!! :(

Hope you have a better experience!

I already have plans with the family this afternoon, but I can stop by to give a few minutes of help/advice.  There's no better way to learn than by taking a crash course!  I'm sure if someone if feeling the wrenching itch, they will stop by and help.  Just follow the instructions and take your time.  Oh, and don't forget to loctite everything!   ::) ;D

Im back from wilmingto North Carolina. While I was gone I got in my SYE and tom woods CV-drive shaft so that is this weekends project and also got my grease fitting in the mail for my lift (was missing alot of them) Also even better is my rims will be here thursday so I can finally take off those stock like 26" tires and put on my 33-12.5-15 Mickey MTZ's. So all in all I should be ready to go break my first parts in like max 2 weeks. Its scary to drive that lift is preety damn big.

6" lift with 33's? They may look a little small in my opinion...LOL...35" tires are pretty proportionate on a Jeep that high...
Title: Re: parts on order any help?
Post by: TJ777 on April 28, 2009, 06:46:36 PM
i agree with you seabee the 33's are gonna look small but i still have the dana 35 and i dont want to have to baby it on the trail and be scared to go on certain trails but i plan on up grading my axle this summer or early winter to the 8.8 then when the tires wareout I want 37's. Atleast ill be able to clear a lot of stuff and be ready for the upgrade in the future.

on an xj 6 inch is perfect for 33's, but on the tj 33's are mint with 3" of lift.  hmmm  maybe some 37's and some trimming??

We installed the SYE, Driveshaft, adjusted the pinion angle, trimed the bumper and probably some more stuff.  We did the SYE while the tranfercase was still in the Jeep, and it wasn't too bad.  The one I did on my Jeep I pulled the tranfercase out, but with the lift and the jackstands under the rear axle we had plenty of room.

Afterwards we hit a few "dirt roads" and flexed it a little.  It had a really loud squeek, but it was just an over tightened control arm.  The springs are little stiff, but I think they will break in and be a little softer.

TJ777-any vibs or problems on the way home?

Nope there no vibs or noises the whole way home it was perfect. Thanks kirk. I owe you big time. Im looking into the solid diff cover might go with rock krusher? any input? I am quite happy with the out come of everything after it is now installed. The flex is redicolus for being a short arm. I am getting out of work around 1330 anyone want to meet up for some afternoon "testing"???

Well the vibs are starting now im gonna have to make the upper control arms longer to rotate the pinion angle up since we shorten the lower arms this last weekend. It had no problems until last night. UUggh!
