I'm looking for some small peices of 1/8 (or close to it) plate for a mounting flange for a light bar. they only need to be about 2x4 or so. I can get some 1/4, but that is thicker than I need, and much more work to cut/shape than smaller stuff.
As this is in trading post, I'm willing to barter (i have a warm work space ;D). And you sickos out there, keep your comments to yourself!

do you have sizes?
i am working on getting some scrap for this weekend. i'll see if i can pick something out for you.

I don't think these folks are too far off frm your place

great fun to go dig through all the stuff too, but they had plenty of small chunks of plate when I went through to get stuff for my redneck special bumper

Jeremy, if you end up taking a drive over to Logan Steel let me know. I want to tag along and see what kind of stuff they have for building my rear bumper and swingout. If they don't have the materials I want to talk to them about getting some in.

If i can't get stuff local, i'll have too. i know I can get pipe at HD, and maybe some small plates, too.

I have an old sailboat cradle here in New London it is made up of heavy angle iron ( 3x3x1/4 ), u-channel ( 1.5x6" or 8" x 8') and pipe ( 3"x 3 or 4')
all the sizes are guesses as I do not want to go out in the snow and measure it.
The cradle is bolted together but has been sitting for a few years and is a little rusty, it should un-bolt or cut it up with a sawsall.
You must take it all, bring a pickup, a lot of free steel, the u-channels would make good bumpers.

I think i still have a sheet of 1/8" i'll check the garage later today.

The u-channles would also make excellent ramps to move a lathe up bulk head stairs.
-
Will, I want to set up a time to look at the steel you have. I may be able to use that for building my rear bumper. I'll send you a pm.
-
If Roger does not want the steel, the cradle could also make a nice utility trailer if you add an axel, tongue and wood deck.
A past employee made a trailer to carry firewood out of one of the cradles and it would hold over a cord.
