Title: Lotsa Snow in Michigan
Post by: calvynandhobbs on December 22, 2008, 05:00:40 PM
I left Groton Thursday afternoon and got in Michigan a little after 5am Friday morning. I slept for a couple hours and then went out to shovel. The first pic is Friday morning after about 10" of snow. The 2nd pic is Sunday afternoon in Muskegon outside the church where we had our family Christmas party. Muskegon got another 10-14" with lots of drifting on Saturday night/Sunday after they got the 10" on Friday. Made driving a lot of fun. So how much snow did you guys get from that storm that came through Friday?

It was fine until I got within about 20 miles of Sandusky, OH. Then I got a bunch of sleet, freezing rain and everything else. Once I got to I75 to head north it was complete white out conditions doing about 40mph. I had a couple Prime truckers behind me when I made the turn North so I got on the CB and told them to take the lead because I couldn't see anything. I told them to stay on the road and I was just going to follow their trailer lights. It worked pretty good until I got to my exit. When I went out to shovel I realized why I couldn't see anything. Both of my headlights were completely iced in with almost half an inch of ice.

We have been hit pretty good back here in CT.  In Oakdale we got 9 1/2 inches on Friday and then another 4 inches yesterday.  We then got some rain, freezing rain, sleet mix, which iced over this morning.  With the axle swap in progrees  I had to go out in my Jetta and managed to get sideways a few times.  My driveway could double as an ice rink.

Doesn't seem too bad.  One thing i always loved about my xj's.  awesome heat.

I lived in WA for 3 years and we only had snow for 6 hours.  The Jetts Seahawk game was in the snow, and when I first started watching I though the game was in Jersey.
