Title: New rims
Post by: Flex on October 20, 2009, 02:08:02 AM
So the old 33's r looking bad i mean real bad, so the plan is to buy 36 inch iroks but now i have hit the decision on whether or not to use my old 15 inch rims which r in great shape or to get a bigger 16 or 17 inch rim so if a brake upgrade becomes necessary i have the room to go to bigger calipers. Im looking for a little input here im really not leaning either way.

If I remember right the WJ comes with 16" wheels to accomodate the dual piston calipers that they use. If you are thinking a swap along those lines I would look up some info from others and find out if they had to go to a bigger rim or if they could get away with filing down the calipers a little bit. The nice thing about 15" rims is that the tires are less expensive than 16" or 17" or any other larger size for that matter. if you don't have stock backspacing you may be able to get away with the rims you currently have, which will keep your tire price a little lower.

yea i know its possible to do the wj brake swap with 15 inch rims but its real tight and u sometimes have to shave the calipers.

i'd keep the 15's. money you don't have to spend & like roger said tires are cheaper.
