Title: Another new guy...
Post by: $100XJ on October 13, 2009, 03:52:38 AM
Hey everyone,

My name's Mike Jenning and I'm new to the area and the JT 4x4 experience, and relatively new to the jeep community.  I'm originally from South Bend, IN (go Notre Dame) and I'm currently living groton for work.  I bought my 1990 maroon XJ about 18 months ago from a kid who thought the transmission was shot.  I paid him 100 bucks for it(hence my screenname).  Turns out it just needed a new fluid line and a lotta fluid (it was BONE DRY).  It has a 4.5" lift with 33" mud-terrains.  My plan is to drive the shit out of it and upgrade whatever parts I demolish with bigger and better stuff until it's an unstoppable machine that goes anywhere and everywhere.  Shouldn't take too long right? lol
Some of you have already met me; I work with flex and rode with him on the Mabell run and I attended the meeting on the 10th where some of you got a taste of my 4 bean chili. I hope to get to know all of you well, learn as much as possible, and get more opportunities to destroy my XJ!  It needs to go through some "character-building exercises"!
I'll get some pictures of my XJ up here soon.

A year ago I knew of 2 guys in the club with an XJ ( Roger and Rob) and now it seems like all the new guys have an XJ :D.  It makes me want to get out in the Garage and lift mine ;)

I havn't been in town much.  I have been tracking down some electrical gremlins and I have everything fixed except the rear defroster and door locks.  I probaably won't get around to the lift and tires until Christmas time, but I may wait until I come out of the ship yard since I am commuting to Maine with it right now.  I am thinking about using the main leaf out of Roger's old XJ leaf springs to make the AAL since it will be a full leaf and should make it ride a little better then the short Pro Comp AAL.

Good thing I have been busy and haven't had a chance to make a dump run with the trailer ;D.  Now I just need some time.......
