Can't tell you how many tail lights i have gone through in the last 6 months or so. Thank you Roger for somehow always having an endless supply of pre-97 XJ tails. However I have exhausted Rogers supply, so I am thinking this will be my next endeavor. http://www.jcroffroad.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=XJTLHSG96&Category_Code=XJArmor
-
What do you mean you ran out of the supply? I just gave you 3 more taillights about 2 weeks ago. You let your swingout break another on the passenger side, didn't you? JCR makes a good product and those XJ taillight boxes are really cool.
-
My swingout didn't take out any it was a certain last minute trail ride. I still have maybe one complete one and another that is only slightly cracked, but I really don't feel like breaking any more. How tough do you think theses JCR ones are?
-
They are going to be expensive to replace when you smash one....

This is my "ooooooo me want" well one of many......

The breakover angle on rock climbs will be awful with that. You'll need a lot of skidplate.

or a set of drive wheels in the middle.

I'm hoping they would be durable? I dunno maybe someone else makes something better. Wish I had the means to fabricate.
-
I just looked; it's only 1/8" steel? The side marker also sticks out beyond the housing. Neat idea, but a good bump on a rock and you will tweak the housing and crack/break the lights. just my $.02
-
hmm, so maybe find someone to fab me 3/4 with recessed lights. those would hold up
-
i'll help with the fab.
-
Here is another option: bottom of the page.

those actually look worthy kirk

When does the next hunk of your bonus come in i see where it is going

those actually look worthy kirk
Depends on how they mount; they might be easy to tear off by snagging a tree or rock. The previous option is better, but a home-made 1/4" setup would be sufficient; any hit would push the whole thing into the XJ vice breakding itself.
-
I've seen people use the recessed LED lights for that application too...

You know if u spent less time on photo shop and more time working on your junk u wouldn't need to photo shop. Just kidding with ya man.
So if u get a chance u want to photo shop a hot chick onto my jeep because we all know they just look at me and walk the other way.
-
Nate I'm researching 91-95 YJ break lines for my junk, so I can lift it another 1 1/2 to 2 inches. Also I have to measure the shackles Adam gave me, or use the 1 1/2 lift blocks I got from Roger. Did you ever find those coil spacers? If so what do they measure? I'm looking to ^^^"upgrade" in the next few weeks. If you are willing to lend a hand, and your garage, I'll photochop all the wenches you want!
-
i think i got some coil spacers around here that are about 1.5" 8)
-
adam says he thinks those shackles will only gimme .75'' or so, so I'm gonna have to order some extended shackles
-
oh and spacers, how much u want for em? I just ordered 1.5''-2'' lift shackles.
-
The yj brake lines are longer than the xj lines but i Don't know how much
-
the spacers i have r 2" ill measure them to be sure when i get back, im in Tennessee right now, ill be back on the 30th and u can use the garage anytime u need it.
-

about 2 3/4'' longer
-
my question is, how do I go about this since my XJ was originally equipped with ABS? Do I have to buy the more expensive ABS YJ lines? I'll give you a little background if some of you don't know. I swapped in an 8.25 from a 98 cherokee, it is a non ABS axle. I never changed anything else, just pulled all the abs relays and the dash light. Anyone have any insight?
-
the rule of thumb for shackles is half the length is the lift i.e. 2" lift shackles would give about 1" lift
-
duece keep in mind that when u go to add ur coil spacers in your going to throw off ur caster and push ur axle back towards the rear of the jeep, and since ur lca are made for a 3 inch lift ur caster will be very out of spec, this will put u in the same boat as i was in when my jeep when i was at 6 inchs of lift and i had some no shit, scared to drive the jeep death wobble, and im not real sure if it was the caster being off or the axle being pushed back farther then it was supposed to be that gave me the death wobble, so just keep this in mind that im going to give u a 75% chance of getting some death wobble, i just want u to be warned.
-
good stuff to know. So the 6 inches of lift was because you had these spacers on, and you fixed your DW by taking them off, so your LCAs were long enough? The shackles I just ordered are adjustable, 1.5-2'' and I'm sagging in the rear because of the swingout and prob the AAL. Could we cut down the spacers to 1'' to try to avoid some DW, and go with 1.5'' in the rear?
-
we could prob do that.
-
Sounds good
-
what about the break lines?
-
Direct replacement i would check the thread pattern but i don't think you need the abs lines i would talk to neil at bumper to bumper tell him what you are doing and he should be able to tell you the difference in the part numbers
-
you could just order brakeline extensions there really not to expensive.
-

extensions? or longer ones? rusty's has this kit for front and rear http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=rustys&Product_Code=RB-BL10-UV&Category_Code=BRAKES
But it doesn't say how much lift it accomodates. I suppose if im only going up 1 1/2" at most this should be enough. and its only 10 bucks.
Or I will get the YJ lines. The question I'm asking is more regarding the ABS. From what I understand its a fragile system, and I really don't want to get air in there. Going to have to be very careful, and make sure I use something to hold the pedal down, and disconnect the battery as not to kill it from the brake light. The non ABS YJ lines are cheaper. Can I run them, since I'm not using ABS now? Really confused ???
-
ok apparently they are the same thing for ABS and non ABS. stupid question :P
-
I think you hijacked your own thread so all i want for christmas is my two front teeth end hijack
-
yea abs is not an issue but as far as extensions u need extensions to the line not a drop bracket.
The extensions are alot more expensive but i think ull be happier with them, the ones u posted up may work but its ur call, check naxja and see if anyone is using them and see what they say about them.
-
yes i kinda hijakked it, but as far as im concerned i want lift, so it still falls under ooooooooooo me want. But keep posting your wishlists. haha
-
What is the price of the stock yj brake lines cause the extended lines are only $55 on ebay
-
I don't know but I would say they are more expensive than that. What did you search on ebay?
And this is what I got from the GF for Christmas
http://www.shopjeepparts.com/viair-400p-portable-compressor-fill-inch-tires-p-1246.html
-
ebay beware u get what u pay, everytime i buy something of ebay the product reminds me why its a bad idea, im not telling u not to just saying take caution.
-
ditto flex, definatley been screwed in the eJunk dept. before
-
ordered lines from ironrockoffroad they are good for up to 8 inches of lift on an xj. My next oooo me want is the JCR upper 1/4 quarter panel gaurds, with metal tail light housings built in. http://www.jcroffroad.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=XJRUPGRD96&Category_Code=XJArmor
