Free metal working lathe
Ever wanted your own metal working lathe? We've got one you can have for free, we're told it's in working condition by someone that knows about them. The catch? It weighs about 2,000+ pounds, it's in our basement and you need to get it out without damaging our house. It's probably 30-40 years old, an old-school machine that might be useful. I can get more info/pictures if you're interested. (yes, this seems like a ridiculous posting, I know)

I just emailed her. If it breaks down in small enough peices, I could set up a 2x4 rail system on her bulkhead steps and winch/come-a-long it out and take the peices on my trailer in a few trips.

Imagine the shit we can make with that Jeremy!!!! I've used one before...It's been probably 20 years but it's fairly basic...We can make pipe caps, drill into the end of round stock, make knurled handles with threads inside them!

It's crazy, but the possibilities are endless!!! ;D

If you guys get it I get a finders fee of "teaching and use"

I'm second on the list of takers. She said there is a bulkhead door, but no room for a truck to get back there. anyone have access to a pallet jack? there is a sidewalk. If I get selected, i'll go check it out and come up w/ a removal plan (ramps, comalongs, cherry-pickers, etc) I will need help, but of course any helpers will get access to use it.

if it were smaller, it would work. there is a headge blocking access to the bilko; cant even get a truck back there. I'm thinking some comalongs, steel/wood beams to act as a ramp, palet jacks to move it to the front (on a sidewalk), then cherry picker to lift it onto trailer. I may have to rent a uhaul open one, as mine is only rated for 900#. but all this is only if the first guy backs out

I think my utlility trailer is good for 1500 lbs, if you are interested I'll check. I would offer up the car trailer, but you'll have to wait for the snow around it to melt.

i can just imagine a lathe on a car trailor. interesting to explain.
