Title: 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee for parts
Post by: calvynandhobbs on May 03, 2012, 04:37:51 PM
My daughter was recently in an accident with her Jeep Grand Cherokee and was hit just right in the front bumper to twist the unibody up in the front beyond my repair capabilities. The rest of this Jeep is in outstanding condition with no rust on the tailgate or on the bottom of the doors at all. The interior is in great condition. The 4.0 has 130,974 miles on it and runs great without burning or leaking a drop of oil between oil changes every 3k miles. The transmission was serviced at 39k miles and then again at 77k miles and shifts great. Both axles have also had servicing and fluid changes.  Dana 30 front axle and Dana 35 rear axle with disk brakes. Great parts for repairing a rusty one or if you have the know-how fix this one and put it right back on the road.
Would like to sell whole for $800 OBO.

By looking at the interior pic I think it's a 242. Look at the T Case shifter & it looks like it has the full time & part time options.

Yes, the t-case is a 242. I'm going to try selling it whole just to get it out of my hair without having to spend a lot of time on it. If it doesn't go whole within a couple weeks I will start parting it out.

If you do part it out, I want dibs on the 242 T-Case and the two front seats.

We only had minimum coverage on it since the cost of full insurance for a 17 year old was more per year than the value of the vehicle. Because of this I had it towed to the house directly and insurance hasn't even looked at it so there is nothing stating that it is totaled or anything. The hood is actually still fine. Because of the hit from the side the radiator support is pushed in and the power steering box is pushed over about 2 inches and the engine is actually lifted a little bit on that corner. Basically the front unibody frame is twisted enough that I can't straighten it and put everything back to where it's supposed to be.
