Welcome back. I just replied to your post in the trading area about Nate's D30. D60s will serve you well, but they are very wide and depending on flare coverage and state laws you could end up in trouble as a daily driver. They are also expensive to mount up unless you are good with a welder and want to buy coil buckets and all of those things to convert it to TJ mounting. You can use a XJ HP D30, which will gain you about 25% more strength over the LP TJ D30. If you are planning to stay on 33s you really don't need to go up to a D60. Those are for 37" tires and bigger. TJs weren't meant to drive in front wheel drive for long periods so that is probably what destroyed your axle. It comes down to how much you are willing to spend at the moment.

yea, ditto n the welcome back, i'm about deploy myself, Again!! N-e-ways, D60's are sweet, if you wanna compete with rigs running rockwells.  My opinion is to A; pick up the Xj D30, and stuff it w/ chromoly's and some nice gears (4.10:1 are good), match the rear gears and a locker at the same time, or B; pick up some D44's, build them up your self, or bite the bullit and spend the dough on some nice Currie or Dynatrack ProRock44's. Expensive as hell, but a super nice package right outta the crate, that will be an instant performance upgrade.  If you aint married, then your post Deployment checking balance should probably cover  most of the cost, either way.  If you are married, then get a second job or win the lottery or sell a kydney or something.

If i'm gonna go to the expense/effort to do a SAS (solid axle swap), why not do it right?  For a used axle, i would think the cost difference would be minimal (except maybe in locker/gears).  And i would NEVER break it till I'm running 45"s!

Spend the $1500 per axle and go buy the mopar Dana 44's they put on the JK's. Cut the brackets off and put the TJ brackets on it($350 for the whole  kit) and you will have D44 with 4.10 ratios AND selectable lockers!!! Front and rear for about $3500 or so...

Don't forget you will need 5 new rims, which require mount and ballance.  JK's are 5 on 5 bolt pattenrs and TJ, XJ, ZJ, YJ etc.. are 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern. So it's more like $4K, still not bad.

check dis out.  So, dynatrac has teamed up with mopar, and they are now selling JK spec d44's prebuilt to drop in to TJ's. Direct bolt in application.

Looked into the new gen Dana 44, you can buy them from any dealership for just over 4k a piece so there totally out of the question and the more i think bout it doing a waggy or even a ford hp dana 44 it really isnt going to be to hard.

yeah but before you completely disregard them, check there specs. those things are beyond bullet proof.  I'd put money down to say they are Ford 9in tough. the jk D44's are way mor rugged and definatley strong. evrything about them is better than the stoock tj rubi sets. plus, they are locked, geared w/4:10's, 5x4.5 studs, and they have all the correct tj bracketry already installed.  Yeah they are alittle pricey for us "regular" guys, but waht about us guys that dont have large amounts of time to take a vehicle out of commision long enough to the chop cut rebuild.  After deployment, i'm biting the bulliet big tim. These axles, high finder kit, and 36's baby. oooh yeah. and all in my car port.

yea these dont even compare to a ford 9 inch even a ford HP dana 44 would be better and if u where going to drop that kinda money into some axles why not just get some bolt in dana 60's.

Also if u want to run 36's why would u run 4.10 gears thats way to low.

Just somethings to think about before u drop 8k on so stuff.
