Title: Attention Probies!!! Mohawk trails in August!!
Post by: Seabee_BUC on April 16, 2008, 03:36:43 AM
Mohawk Trails in MA. on August 22, 23, 24. This requires reservations to be made NOW for camping in the Mohawk Family Campground. Directions to the campground are here (http://maps.google.com/maps?daddr=Tea+Street+Ext,+Charlemont,+MA+01339&geocode=&dirflg=&saddr=Groton,+CT+06340&f=d&sll=42.643903,-72.921946&sspn=0.007545,0.019999&ie=UTF8&z=8)   If anyone has intentions on going, please PM me. I will ask for $60 to hold a campsite for you. I am planning on sending in $$ this Friday 18 April. These trails can be anywhere from a mild 2-3 on a good dry day to a downright nasty 5 when it gets dark, and the skies open up on you. Recommend at least one locker and 33's for the tough stuff, mild trails can be negotiated with a close to stock rig with finesse and a little expierence behind the wheel.

This is the view from the campsites!!!

This is probably the best wheeling in the Northeast, if anyone is up in the air on going, just GO!!! You won't be disappointed!

I've got a little generator for the power. It doesn't have tanks or water/sewer connections. It's got a propane stove, if anybody wants to cook. I bring an icechest for the cold/frozen stuff.

So it could go on a tent site if it need to. ok...I'll check into it...might be a bit more $$ if they won't let you put it on the rivver with us tent types...

Bayou, She just told me you CAN put your little trailer on a tent site because you don't need any connections. So the price is $60 for the two nights. Can you get $$ to me by Friday? You have a PM too...

Yeah I can get you the $,just let me know where to meet you. Is the campsite easily accessible? The trailers not equipped to handle any crawling type stuff. But it's got a TV & xbox. I have a couple chairs & the tv swings out to the side so if anybody wants to play games or watch movies(or kids that might like to) it'll be available

Its a normal campground so access is easy. We have two girls we'll be bringing so the TV and XBOX might come in handy in the evenings...Thanks!

Almost! ;)  It was a 06 and had seen its fair share of abuse but sadly is now long gone.  :(

Hey everyone! I hope that you are all well since we saw you last. I found an email from SeeBee_BUC in my in box yesterday and I've got to say its great to hear from you folks. We had a really great time on that run and really enjoyed wheeling with you. I'll let our members know about the run but I'm sure that people will be interested.  ;D

I'll definitely be there if I can!  8)

Thanks for the invite,

Rob

Hey Rob! Glad to see you made it to the forum! The 2008 was a typo, sorry. You say its long gone? Meaning you sold it? What did you replace it with? Something to wheel I hope!  ;D  Anyway, glad to hear from you! Take care!

Yeah... the H3 had to go. Getting stranded in a bog with two broken tie rods spelled the end of the H3. Wife couldn't deal with it saying "get whatever the H*ll you want just so long as its not this H3!"

Ummm... ok.  :o

So now I'm driving a 2008 JK unlimited rubi.  8)
My 3" lift kit from Poly Performance arrived today and is going on this weekend and I'm adding a RockHard front bumper and gas tank skid. I saved my 35" tires and Staun internal beadlocks from the H3 and mounted those up on some Pro Comp wheels yesterday. Maybe if she doesn't kill me I'll see if I can squeeze in a winch too.  :o :D   I can not wait to get her out on a trail! My goal is to be able to walk that wall on OFR, no questions asked.

Right now It looks like I'm only camping for one night (which ever night has the best partying  ;D) so If there's anyone else who just wants one night let me know. I already paid Scott for both nights, so it'll be $30 paid to me.

What's the plan anyway? Wheeling on Sat and Sun, or just one day?
Title: Re: Attention Probies!!! Mohawk trails in August!!
Post by: Seabee_BUC on April 21, 2008, 03:08:04 PM
I would suggest if you can't camp both nights, then drive up at o-dark-thirty Saturday morning so you can wheel Saturday and then camp that night. Not sure what Sunday holds yet. I'm trying to come up with a trail plan. I'm thinking Axle's nemesis first thing Saturday morning so we can at least have daylight if it rains this time. LOL  Then the easier trails in the afternoon, then maybe one short one on Sunday?? Still working this part...

Any suggestions from the crowd???

Also,
I currently still have one site not spoken for yet. I do not need to pay to hold this one because we are paying in full for the other 8 that are already taken. I can cancel it later with no problems. Is anyone interested now so I can send the money all at once??? PM me ASAP!

I have always wanted a teardrop.  Even tried to get my father in law and husband to build one.  Do you have any pictures of your teardrop?

Scott,

the plan sounds good!  I am up for wheeling a little sunday (since we will be there anyway, get more for our money, so to speak).  What time is checkout? (would rather leave the trailer at the campsite and change tires there vice a trail head).

Also, if anyone is interested in going up thursday to get some light wheeling in friday, I would be up for that.

I think we need to be packed up by 11 or 12. I suppose we could leave your trailer outside of the camp area (parking lot) while we hit another trail but its like a 2+ hour drive back to CT. JD and I like to stop at the tourist stands and look around.

be done by noon/2pm (trailer staged), 20 min to swap tires, be back home by 5/6.  I'd stop w/ y'all to see the tourist stuff :)

So I guess that the plan is to go on friday and set up camp. I am game for going in the morning and getting some wheeling in the afternoon.

dont forget spare parts!!! and fluids very imoportant.
Title: Re: Attention Probies!!! Mohawk trails in August!!

What kinda spare parts you talking about, or do you see the most commonly?
Title: Re: Attention Probies!!! Mohawk trails in August!!
Post by: Doball on April 22, 2008, 06:58:55 PM
If you have a stock drive line

Rear axle shafts
Driveshaft U joints
Driveshafts
Spare Tcase tailshaft if you can find one.

Anything else you want to carry - steetring parts if you worry about them, diff fluid, brake fluid, water, oil, ps  fluid, tools, boards, a brake line or two.

Whatever you think might break, won't....whatever you don't have will break. Some things might not be practical, but you never know. I don't think we've had anyone rip a brake line off yet, or snap off a driveshaft, but it's not unthinkable.

FYI - I'll get as many HXC folks as I can to join in on this run. I know I very much want to be there and am marking the calendar.  8)

OBTW - Didn't want to clutter this thread, so in this thread are a couple quick shots of my build (http://jt4x4.com/smf/index.php?topic=647.0). Hope you like.  ;D

OK, Camping reservations are now closed. JT4X4 has ten sites claimed for the weekend. At this point, if anyone new intends on camping, it is going to be on whatever they have available for the weekend. I can't promise anyone they will be near us or that they will even have any vacancies. I will try to get campground registration cards before we go to speed up check-in when everyone shows up. Additionally, if anyone that has paid backs out for any reason, understand it is your responsibility to either find a person to take that site and get $$ from them or to try to get your money back from the campground. Also, if your cancellation is too short fused, you most likely won't get your money back from them. Just an FYI on that. If anyone has any more questions, PM me...

Also, keep in mind, she said we could stack more tents on each site BUT each additional tent on that camp site will still have to pay the FULL price for the night (ie: one campsite with two tents on it, you pay $30/night for each tent, totalling $60/for that night for that one campsite)...AND she said "that's if we say you guys can do it that night or not, we'll have to see".

Keep that in mind please! Only one  tent for each camp site.

Mmmm nice. A man thinking outside the gender lines *grins* did I say welcome to the forum yet?

;) (And for the record, that might have been a comment he made entirely out of phobia of having two men in one tent, but I like looking at things MY way lmao!)

And by the way, we have like three or four tents, the grill, a couple of coolers, a couple of sleeping bags, and almost any other camping gear anyone needs, if you find yourself needing some help out.

Is Jeremy the only truck bed going?

OBTW, i will have a truck bed and trailer going, so if you need gear hauled, let me know (to a point, as extra weight drives down MPGs).
