Post by: GreenGrandV8 on September 03, 2010, 06:47:04 PM
i drove the zj to work the other night, then i left work and it started shiftin funny... 3-4 miles later she no go.. seems to drive fine for about 3 or 4 miles then the tranny overheats and just slips. go figure i get the death wobble pretty much all set and order a winch bumper and the damn tranny goes. i have a spare in my old zj out back but shes got 203k on her. anyone done a tranny on the 5.2??? im hopin everything will come apart good but IT NEVER DOES. i would slap the old trans in while the other one is getting rebuilt and possibly moded with a shift kit or a full lock out conversion or just put a man pedal in ( aka rust in a manual trans) if the old one worked run it yes it is not the best in the world but it worked

but you think i could still make it work? i was thinkin about callin a few local junk yards and gettin a price on a lower milage one, but if i use the one i have i can pull it then ill know how to do it on my jeep. it doesnt look any fun. especially because now i have to deal with swappin my np231 over to the new tranny, and hopefully the new tranny will need the long input shaft like my jeep so i dont have to swap that again
