I have a small bottle we can put the argon/co2 mix in for TIG/MIG if need be.  Thanks for the offer, Gary.

I'm good on wire right now, might need to get some more gas before I start, don't want to run out right before we finish...I'll have to look...

Found the problem.  Carrier pin is missing it's bolt.  It is sliding out of the carrier and getting caught on the pinion.  There's already a chunk off the top of the carrier pin missing.  It's not enough to warrant a new pin, but I'm worried about the pinion more than anything.  Pete stands by his work, and he'll take care of it.  Once he gets the bolt, he'll mail it to me so I can install it.  Then, I need to check the teeth on the pinion to make sure they aren't damaged.  From what I could see of the bottom teeth, they are ok, with a few that have a little scraping, but nothing serious.

Which means I'm most likely out of the cruise day on saturday unless I can come up with a bolt between now and then.

Found the carrier pin bolt...  It was in the bottom of the diff, along with a half inch chunk of pinion.  The carrier pin bolt backed out, so when I came to a stop and torque was released on the carrier pin, it slipped out enough to grap the pinion on the way down.  That's why I came skidding to a halt.  Pete is going to order parts, and I'll get it up there when I can.  I replaced the bolt into the carrier pin.  Hopefully the pinion will make it the hour and a half to Pete's place.

Pete is going to replace everything but the actual locker itself.  He's also upgrading my gears from the factory ford's to a higher quality.  Unfortunately, I just so happened to be that 1/1000000 guy with a stroke of bad luck.  Oh well, Pete's a stand up guy and he's taking care of it.

Now, where did I put that CTaxle banner...   ;D

I dont know how big my current rear hitch is, but if you want we can rent a uhaul trailer and bring it to Pete for you. That way you dont have to press your luck.. I'll look into it.

It's still drivable.  The chip is on the tip of the pinion, so it won't affect the wear pattern.  It should be fine until it gets replaced.  Pete agrees.

Thanks for the help, Gary.  We got the brackets welded on.  The welds aren't that great, but each one got at least one really good bead.  Now I just need to get it to Pete so he can fix the rearend.

Edit:  Thanks also goes to Scott for letting me borrow his equipment.  He has nice equipment!  ;D ::)
