broken grease fitting

i was lubeing up ole peggy ;D, and noticed that the rear drive shaft zerk(sp) had been "wheeled" off.  8)

so any one have anything small enough to get it out? i dont want to just drill it. then tap a new hole.

You could try a small easy-out first.  I'm sure someone has one.

yep thats what you do, small easy out, she will come right out. The shop dosn't have any, they all got broke. I might, I got to look in the tool box

generally grease fittings aren't all that "tight" ... every one I've snapped, I've been able to get out with just a small flathead screwdriver grabbing onto the rough edges of whatever is left.

i have a small easy-out some where.  aslo craftsman has a kit that works well for loose broken stuff
1973 Chevy El Camino: 383 sb, lots of power

I just have to find it!  It shouldn't be that hard to find, i've only got stuff in 6-10 different locations in my garage!

I've got a set you can use, call me this weekend. As far as drilling and taping, There are press in zerks for all size holes.

i am going to try to tackle it while i am at the cruise day. that way if something happens, we'll be at a parts store. lol.

but i am sure it is simple, i just want to try to preserve the threads while i can.
