Mercedes Diesel in YJ

JSchwinn:
So I agree about not rushing but the plan would be to spend the next 6 months gathering the parts.  The adapters are easy and the engines are plentiful. I'll be able to drive the jeep as is for now but I want to be prepared for when it needs to be replaced.

From what I have read if you buy a running Mercedes 300 you will be able to take the engine/wiring/glow plugs.  There is a site that sell the adaptor to bolt to my ax-15 and they also sell the required motor mounts.  I know that simples it a lot but you get the gist

skibum:
But every parts store will have parts in stock for the 4.0 when you need then in a pinch when stuck out on the trail or just want to continue wheeling for a wk end then going home because parts had to be ordered. Stick with the easy and reliable 4.0. Just cant beat that engine for reliability.

Big Chuck:
I agree with the 4.0 and they are easy to get! Jeeps Unlimited in Providence has a ton of em!

JSchwinn:
You guys and your logical arguments....
