Waggy Dana 44's

So I got offered a set of Dana 44's from a Wagoneer.  My question is this...does anyone know if they will fit (might be a dumb question), and if they do how much fab work am I looking at, and a possible difficulty level.  Any info is appreciated.  Thanks in advance.  He said $500 for the set.  If he sells them quick might kick the price down a bit.

What gearing do they have and what is their condition?

It really depends on what kind of shape they are in.  As for the swap itself, head over to pirate4x4.  There is a TON of info on that exact swap and countless build thread where you can see exactly what others did to make it work.  There probably 6 lug axles, so you'll need some 6 lug wheels or you'll have to swap them over.

Waggy 44's are good axles all around if you can get them bought right and in good condition.  If you've got to sink a ton into them, then I wouldn't do it but that is just me.

what year are the axles

differnt years have axle disconects and are on the wrong side the best are after 86?

i currently run waggy 44's good axles better than the d30 and d35 you currently have you will need new wheels the front is bolt sua in the springs will be at a slight angle but it don't matter your leaves will not notice it the front is bassically the same as a chevy d44 but narrower and diff is on the oposite side

the rear will need perches re welded as it is stock soa and is 3" narrower than the front and they are both wider than stock yj axles

high pionts of the axles bigger ring and pinion than the d30 gears are avilible up to 5.38 for sure maybe deeper stock steering is otk inverted T and easy to add high stear just bolt on chevy flat tops and are already use the same tre's as a 1 ton chevy and the rear is non c-clip and no unit bearings

down side it is a low pinion axle and it is not a d60 and it has the same size u joint as a d30

Sweet.  Gearing is stock.  That was all he could tell me.  They came off of an '89'. They are in better condition than that is for sure.  Thanks for the info.

ok that is a good year stock gearing will either be 3.31 or 3.55? and if the waggy had the tow package 3.73's if you need a set of flat tops let me know i have a set for sale the passenger side needs machined yet

does it come with slugs or hubs?

if you need spare parts let me know

I will find out what it comes with tomorrow or Saturday when I get them. Stupid question, what are flat tops?  Hahahaha. Ended up paying $450 for the set.  Front one has all steering except pitman arm.  Just have to find an NP231 for an automatic now.
