how bout a d44 from a 97 zj?? but disc brake... how hard would it be to swap to that???

calvynandhobbs:
I don't think there were many changes to the suspension on ZJs so a D44a Zj swap should be pretty straight forward. You'll get more strength with that axle, but not as much as a TJ D44. i believe all the ZJ D44s were the aluminum version if I remember correctly.

GreenGrandV8:
yeah i looked up the tj axles at the junk yards and there like 800$+ crazy. and i can find the zj one for like 325$ probably still a good upgrade tho, not sure ill have to check them out

GreenGrandV8:
and i just looked up about the d44's and it sais in 96+ in zj's it has an aluminum center section.... what are the calling an aluminum center?? the diff case??

GreenGrandV8:
found this on jeeptech.com ------------The ZJ Dana 44 is the only Jeep Dana 44 with an aluminum differential housing. It is also a C-clip axle with one piece shafts and a 5 on 4.5" wheel bolt pattern. Because of the aluminum housing and C-clips, it is not really any more desirable than a Dana 35c. The shafts are 30 spline. so i shouldnt spend money on that i guess, dam just cant win lol
