how bout a d44 from a 97 zj?? but disc brake... how hard would it be to swap to that???

I don't think there were many changes to the suspension on ZJs so a D44a Zj swap should be pretty straight forward. You'll get more strength with that axle, but not as much as a TJ D44. i believe all the ZJ D44s were the aluminum version if I remember correctly.

yeah i looked up the tj axles at the junk yards and there like 800$+ crazy. and i can find the zj one for like 325$ probably still a good upgrade tho, not sure ill have to check them out

and i just looked up about the d44's and it sais in 96+ in zj's it has an aluminum center section.... what are the calling an aluminum center?? the diff case??

found this on jeeptech.com ------------The ZJ Dana 44 is the only Jeep Dana 44 with an aluminum differential housing. It is also a C-clip axle with one piece shafts and a 5 on 4.5" wheel bolt pattern. Because of the aluminum housing and C-clips, it is not really any more desirable than a Dana 35c. The shafts are 30 spline. so i shouldnt spend money on that i guess, dam just cant win lol

That's the thing about jeeps, you really need to do your homework before buying anything!

yeah im goin with the 8.8 im gonna get one with stock locker and disc brakes. but how hard is gonna be to hook up the disc brakes in the back when i got drums right now??

You will need a second passenger side soft brake line, and either buy the adaptor kit for the parking brake cable, or do a search for the hardware store loop and clamp fix.  The brakes are the easy part.
